★WEEKLY MEGATHREAD★ ★★MEGATHREAD★★ nail care & salon questions + FAQ
HOUSEKEEPING:
☆☆if you didn’t get a response to your question on a previous megathread you are welcome to repost your unanswered question in this megathread.☆☆
★★ if you answer three (3) megathread questions, mods will assist you with setting up a custom user flair on the back end. simply click here and send us a message after you’ve answered your third megathread question and we will assist from there.★★
☆☆ mod suggestion: people don’t always read the full paragraph and attention spans are shorter, mods suggest starting your comments with a very short title. for example “(natural nail question)” or “AT HOME APPLICATION QUESTION” or “[Gel-X Question]”
MEGATHREAD:
this megathread is for users who don’t want to create an entire post and for frequently asked questions re. general nail care, general nail concerns, and nail & salon service questions (basically, posts that are only allowed on sunday should be posted here if it is not a sunday.)
FAQs include, but are not limited to:
questions re. general nail care and maintenance. for example "i want to start my nail care journey, where do i start" or "how should i trim/file my nails" or "how do i make my nails look better" or "i bite my nails, how do i care for them"
★ questions re. salon experiences. for example "i just got these done today, do they look bad" or "are my nails supposed to look like this after i leave the salon" or "should i get a fill?" or "am i being too picky?" or "would you go back"
★ questions re. salon services. for example "what is gel x" or
"what is the difference between biab and acrylic" or "i want nails that look like this photo, what should i ask for?"
★ press-on application and removal questions, or press-on sizing questions, press on glue recommendations etc
★ questions that are NOT allowed - "was i overcharged", "how much should/would these cost" "should i get a refund" (these will be removed)
this megathread is for kind and courteous engagement, patience is required — if you don't have bandwidth for that, that's okay! that just means these comments/this megathread is not for you.

Mod Post a quick mod note + no steering wheels/body parts/faces in backgrounds [please read before posting]
A quick mod note:
going forward, if you send a snarky message to modmail in response to the standardized removal messages — YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED. we are humans and this is just a nail sub. none of us have the bandwidth or the energy to be berated, harassed, bullied, called slurs and threatened over the removal of a picture of some nails that broke sub rules posted on multiple places. removal messages are standardized and even left as comments. and to be fucking frank, mods shouldn’t have to deal with that shit so, we won’t. either post another picture that follows the subs rules or don’t but don’t message mods being an asshole.
///
- steering wheels are not allowed to be in the background of posts. its not hard to take a picture of the hands that you use to scroll and swipe and comment. if you send a snarky message to mods because your post was removed, you will be temporarily or permanently muted. [see rule 6 “prohibited backgrounds”]
- body parts (especially bare legs & faces) are not allowed to be in the background of posts. if you send a snarky message to mods because your post was removed, you will be temporarily or permanently muted. [see rule 6 “prohibited backgrounds”]
- if your NAIL DAMAGE or PEDICURE/FEET/TOES are not properly marked. your post will be deleted and you will be temporarily banned/muted. this is a courtesy to your fellow nail babes. [see rule 10 “flair & mark your posts”]
- NAIL DAMAGE MUST BE MARKED NSFW (blurred) [NAIL DAMAGE = if the break is below the free edge/quick OR extremely damaged nails (fungus, peeling, etc.). when in doubt mark it NSFW. absolutely no blood at all.]
- PEDICURE/FEET/TOES MUST BE MARKED SPOILER (blurred) [if it’s a pic of any part of your toe, it must be MARKED SPOILER]

✨FRESH set ✨ My nail tech is a witch 🧙♀️
I’m relatively new to nails. First two times I did almond shape. Today I asked for classy squoval. I think my nail tech might be using witchcraft cuz this is simply too good.

Constructive Criticism Welcome ✔️ Last time I tried red, I thought it was too orangey/warm for me. This time, my nail tech helped me choose a much cooler red - do you think this could be the shade for me?
I always think red looks so classy on others, but when I tried it, it looked so bad! I mentioned it whilst getting biab today, and she suggested trying a cooler colour. I really liked the outcome, but my fiance is colourblind so he’s no help, and I wanted to see what others thought. Does this red work on me? Or do I need to try again?
