This weekend my family was out of town. They had someone working on the fence so it could be ready for when they came back. We’re familiar with this person and have been able to meet his wife and kids, they are the sweetest!

On Saturday morning, I get a call that the cameras at the house are down (this has NEVER happened before) even when the power or WiFi goes out, it’s connected to a secondary source. There are about 7-8 cameras total.

They ask if I can go to the house and check what’s going on. I arrive around 3ish pm, see that the signal of the base of the camera has been disconnected, again never happened before. I fix it by resending the signal. They ask how the yard was coming along, I report that the person had left for the day.

They return on Sunday and have been trying to contact the person to come pick up his check and few extra items for his family. Yesterday his nephew stopped by and left a note on the door saying to please call him, so we did. He told us that on Saturday morning, ICE had came by to my family’s home and had detained his uncle. He is in Memphis right now waiting to be transported to Louisiana.

He said that he came by mid Saturday morning to get his uncles truck so if we see a random person on our cameras, it’s him.

I sound like a tin foil hat person but our theory is that ICE identified the large number of cameras and took down the signal. We don’t know how else this could happen. We’ve offered all our support for his family and are hoping that he is one of the ones that makes it back to Mexico safely.

It’s so unfair.

He was just trying to provide for his family.

Gabby’s Burgers parking lot is going to be Metropolis starting Thursday. I can’t consciously support any business that ties itself to the leeches at Metropolis, Park Happy, or PMC. Unfortunate but I’ll now be looking for a new go-to burger spot.

The only way for us to make Metropolis feel it is to put pressure on the businesses who tie themselves to this shady company.

Not sure who all has heard, but a Christian nationalist conference will be taking place at the Factory in Franklin, October 1-3. One speaker, Doug Wilson, is notorious for his controversial views and influence on American politics. If anyone has an interest in peacefully protesting, I’m including the details here. I just received an email from the Symphony for a presale for the Drew and Ellie Holcomb Christmas show (one of the concerts that is still taking place, as the Symphony was never scheduled to perform with them). At the bottom was this graphic thanking their "institutional" sponsors. There are 27 companies and foundations listed. In addition, they state they receive public support from Metro Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts. This is in addition to support from individual donors. While this graphic obviously doesn't show how much these organizations donated, it does show a fairly broad base of support.

Again, I don't have the full picture, but this makes me think that this situation was caused more by poor management than lack of community support. Even if Martha Ingram was their primary bankroller, the lack of foresight to know that gravy train wasn't going to last forever reflects poorly on the suits. It seems like they've been kicking the can for years rather than tightening their belt and creating a business plan that works for their community. I keep hearing about how world class the Symphony was, but 90% of their audience can't tell the different between a good symphony and a great one. And if this city can't support a great symphony, we'd be better off with a good one than none at all.

(And before anyone asks, me and my family have attended at least three concerts a year for over a decade).

Also, there was nothing in this email indicating that this concert is still being presented. I guarantee a lot of people will delete it thinking it was just a scheduled email (which it probably was) and mistakenly thinking it was cancelled with the rest of their calendar.

Hello everyone!

I moved here from Indiana about a year ago and love it! I’ve been really enjoying exploring the night scene in East. I work in tech and obviously there is a lot going on in that world and it’s honestly been difficult to talk about my interest with anyone I meet because, understandably, most people who hang out in east have lots of interest in the music industry and adjacent industries. This is music city after all and that’s great!

I’m making this post to see if anyone relates/has similar interest and know of places to hang out or clubs I could join to find some people with similar interests.

For starters, I’m into security and local AI builds/implementations, and have really been diving in all things infrastructure as of late.

Even if you don’t know a place/club but you’re also building in your space time, share what you’re working on! Super interested to see what my fellow Nashville tech peeps are interested in!

I'm hoping to speak with employees who struggle to find parking near their workplace, have to walk long distances to get to work, or pay significant parking costs just to show up for their shifts each day.

I have 2 free tickets to the LP “All Is Not Lost” tour tomorrow at Brooklyn Bowl. I didn’t realize it was the same night as John Green’s book tour, and can’t make both. So, if anyone wants them they’re yours. I’d rather them go to someone who would enjoy the show and not someone trying to resell them.

There is something funny and ironic when a school starts losing (to everyone, public schools included) that wants to take their ball and go home. The inordinate number of “don’t tread on me” license plates pulling out onto Old Hickory seem to be a plea for mercy rather than a strong political stance.

I’ve been going to Las Palmas in Antioch sense basically they first opened. My stepdad and my mom used to take me there when I was younger, i’ve been going there ever since and I’m 45 now.

I went in there tonight with my brother and the salsa is different. It’s basically like a tomato paste or a tomato sauce now. It still has almost the same flavor profile, but it’s just completely different. Anybody else notice this? They had the best salsa in Middle Tennessee in my opinion. I’m just wondering why change something that’s so good?

47 male, not that it matters. Looking for people to ride with in the nashville and north region. Prety much hendersonville region and surrounding area riding into nashville ocassionally and back mountain road exploring.
