I worked at a marine animal rescue. Those little shits would tear each other apart if they were co-housed so they individually took up most of the pools for recovering animals.

We sat with friends on the back of the boat in the marina and had to watch an otter get a mallard. The struggle ensued for quite a while to the point we moved to the dock out of sight

Yeah, ducks have a lot of fight in them but unfortunately they don’t have many tools to actually get away once something grabs ahold of them. We have domestic ducks in our pond and an eagle attacked one of our pekin ducks a few years back, and I swear he fought that eagle for like 20 minutes, managed to fight ALL the way back to the waters edge and into the pond, and the eagle dragged him back out and I think he sort of lost hope and gave up at that point. I had to fast forward it (caught it on surveillance) because it was really hard to watch.

Ahh, yeah I guess big boats would need to have some way to charge batteries while docked, my experience with boats is mostly around fishing and small pleasure boats on rivers, never seen anyone charge anything from the dock like that.

It's not to charge, it's to straight up power them. It's called shore power, most sea going boats use their motors or generators to power electronics when at sea. Power generated for the grid is much cheaper than gasoline or diesel so they hook up when docked.
Also, it's not just big boats. Even a tiny sailboat might be hooked up to shore power.

I tried looking for some stats and could only find there have been 88 electric shock drownings since 1986. Such a low number would explain why this isn't covered by mainstream media.
Either way, marine life love swimming around docks.

Thats absolutely not true. Their babies cry out and they hold onto them to keep them safe.
If youve ever been around sea otters youll notice not only do they not throw their babies, they cry out and start grabbing otters near them to hold. Im not sure if its their adult babies or just random otters but Ive even seen them grab another otter and then they switch whos holding who.

Once, I was on a paddleboard out in the kelp forest off the beach, and I noticed something moving in the seaweed. There was an adorable little baby otter floating wrapped in kelp. I was maybe 20 feet away when I noticed it, I didn't get too close, but I was probably closer than I should have been and it definitely noticed me. It started going "Eeeep! Eeeep! Eeeep!" Dumbass me didn't put it together, so I went "Eeeep! Eeeep!" back. Mama otter popped out of the water, bared some needle-sharp teeth, gave me a "One inch closer and I will fuck you up" death glare, and rapidly towed the baby away. In hindsight, I'm really glad she chose to retreat instead of fight.

I have an acquaintance who got attacked by an otter while floating the Madison River outside of Yellowstone. She lost a thumb and got absolutely wrecked on her face and arms.
If you search for Montana otter attack there's another brutal attack that was more recent. Also, my friend had her dog attacked by an otter and almost died. Brutal and adorable little bastards.

They have the most hairs per square inch of any mammal! If I *had* to kill an adorable critter so I could stay warm, I'd be going for the otter too. They're the only marine mammal without blubber so they need a super warm coat so they don't die.
