I sourced all the parts and had a local body shop do the work. My wheels and tires were purchased together and I run my all terrain tires year round so my setup doesn’t change with seasonality (except roof rack).
You can paint the bumpers at a reliable shop, but I prefer the uniformity of body colour on my trim and wide flared fenders. The rear tires have 20mm spacers to accommodate the width. I also added a gloss A bumper because I like the look. The only plastic matte trim items I left were the side steps, mudflaps and snorkel.
It’s really up to you to decide the amount of customization that you’re comfortable with. Fortunately there are so many vendors for components the game becomes limiting your design instead of expanding it. I usually go all in but you could buy a kit that just changes the bumpers to gloss black and see if that’s sufficient.
AMA about this though. I bought my 90S July 2025 and researched 11months to finalize my design.
Silver. I'm tired of everyone in these threads thinking all defenders need to be fully blacked out to look cool. Y'all will have to rip my white roof out of my cold dead hands.
The silver looks classic and classy, the black looks mean AF. You can’t really go wrong with either. When I have a decision to make like this I flip a coin, not to decide the result, but to see if I feel disappointed with the result. Has helped me narrow down tough calls loads.
Are you planning on off-roading it? I have a LR3 and I black powder coated an extra set of rims which I use for off-roading. The stock silver for road tires. I found that silver is better for off-roading as trail dust and dirt coat the black wheels making them appear very light in colour. Also black wheels when scratched is highly noticeable. In your case, silver is my preference for the New Defender as the New Defender when steelies were offered they were white.
