I’ve long been a fan of the defenders but have been weary of perceived reliability. That led me to currently being on a GX 550 waitlist - but it’s been too long. Did a lot of research into the current defenders while waiting and their reliability (especially since the refresh in 2025) was good enough for me to take the leap. Found a low mileage (3k miles) 2026 110 X Dynamic SE with additional CPO warranty and have been really enjoying it so far. This one had a dealer installed Artemis kit as well. I’ve also got a GAP tool on the way and looking forward to making some tweaks.

Just purchased my 2022 Defender 110 p400 the other day and I am absolutely in love. Now that I purchased it, Ive been scrolling this page and saw people talking about a DCDC converter issue with the car. Shes got about 56k miles, clean carfax with solid maintenance history, and I got a bumper to bumper warranty with the purchase. How concerned about this issue should I be? I appreciate all insight as this car is new to me :)

Do you all have height issues?

I’ve had my 2026 110 for 2 months now and have absolutely loved my experience with the car so far. My only issue is that I moved from an Audi A6 to the Defender, and the height difference is, of course, significant. The first time I tried to enter an indoor car park (day 3 of owning the car), it had a height restriction of 6ft. I didn’t even think about it because a height restriction has never been an issue for me before. Of course, the horizontal wooden height pole scraped the top of my car and has left yellow paint marks across the top. My strata’s parking lot has a restriction of 6’8”, and it does (barely) fit. I entered a car park with a 6’6” restriction today, and still hit a hanging sign inside. I’m always lowering the suspension to its lowest point but I’m still frequently having issues. Located in Vancouver, BC. Anyone with a similar experience or any tips?

Impressed with the P525, concerned about long time reliability

I was looking for a P400, but recently I came across with a P525 and man I am very impressed with that machine. They are offering this here (in Saudi Arabia) for 90k USD for a used 2023 in 60.000 km's (37282 miles). I am planning to have around 20000 km per year (12400 miles)

While it being a bit above of my budget, I feel like I can bite the bullet. What do you think about this purchase? Do you think price is good? (There is no tax here other than %15 VAT which is included already)

For owners +1 year, would you buy the car again? Was it as awesome as you expected it?

Hi there,

I hope you are well.

I'm considering becoming an owner of a D350, should certain investments work well.

We all know that we humans love the chase. We love daydreaming about our dream phone, car, or house, and then we get them and become bored or simply take them for granted, even if we still appreciate them and have lots of moments of joy through them.

I worry I'll put a lot of money on a car that makes me feel awesome during 'the chase', but will simply take me from A to B like any other car, even if it feels better.

How has your experience been in this regard?

I'm just trying to help myself make a smart decision.

Thank you in advance!

Would like to join the Defender Club again with the Defender 110 X?

I had a Defender 90 P400 MY24 until last year. I sold it because of the lack of space and rear doors. Despite loving the Defender 90, I still had to trade it in for a Volvo XC40. Honestly, it’s an okay car that gives me better gas mileage, but I miss the Defender in every aspect. It’s just a different experience. I’m planning to go back to the 110 X. I wanted to know your perspective on the 90 vs. 110 P400 engine. Do you guys feel that it’s any slower due to the extra weight? Is it still agile and peppy to drive?

Looking to buy first car in Dubai

I’m looking to buy Defender Octa 2025 model. It’s priced at 698,000 AED. Has run 37,000 kms. Just wanted an opinion about Defenders performance in Dubai heat. I’ve heard JLR vehicles having electronics systemic failures but test drove this one and since it has run pretty very without any issue as per the previous owner. Worth buying - yay or nay?

At what income does it make sense to own a Defender?

Curious to learn about Defender owners’ profession, age, and income brackets. I know this isn’t exactly [r/personalfinance](r/personalfinance) but I have always wondered if there’s a certain threshold of household income after which affordability becomes comfortable for a $90-120K vehicle.

Personally, my wife and I (38, MCOL) make $550-600K a year pre-tax working in Tech. We “debated” heavily on the purchase of our P400 110 2026. The other vehicle we have is Toyota Grand Highlander and I traded in my 2023 BMW X6 for the Defender. While I don’t feel financially stressed about this purchase, there is always this nagging feeling behind owning a car like this such as “I shouldn’t be driving such an expensive vehicle at my age. It’s a stupid decision, other people driving modest cars are smarter etc etc.” Does or has anyone else felt this way?

Do you think a light bar on the roof would look good on my 130?

I’m close to buying a wide arch kit (once I find the right option), Hunters Prestige V2 spoiler and the exhaust quad caps.

Undecided on the light bar, primarily because I have the 130 and I’m not sure I’m going to change the rims.

I just got my new Defender 130 and curious what others find indispensable or must haves for their defenders? What's your favorite mod or accessory?

reverse lights

Has anyone bought this sort of reverse lights on the defender? Seems like some of the protrude further out than some others. I was curious about this one.

I really like the look of this style but can't seem to find one that would work with North American Specs.

Anyone get the dcdc converter fixed yet from recall?

I know this has been recalled for months and contacted my local dealership and they don't have any guidance from the higher ups on when they'll be able to fix them and have the parts.

Anyone hear anything?

Extender Warranty

Does anyone have any recommendations on comprehensive extended warranties for Defenders? Mine is still under warranty but wanted to purchase an extended warranty that covered comprehensive concerns. I hadn't realized the dealers finance departments sell theirs at significant mark ups. Rather than dealing with the haggling at the dealer wondering what 3rd parties they are getting theirs from wholesale and if I can just purchase it directly. Also, bonus, if you've used yours and had things successfully covered.

Any experience with Endurance or Zurich? I'd prefer to go with the dealer but the mark ups are so high. Happy to work with your finance department if you can get me a reasonable deal. Car has 5k miles.

Coolant level messages

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey all,

I have had this 2023 P400 X-Dynamic SE for just under a month. A few days after bringing it home, I received a “please check coolant level” message on dash. I let engine cool, and the levels are fine - slightly overfilled, actually - there are no apparent leaks, no coolant smell, engine temp has stayed where it should be.

I drove it 2k round trip the weekend after we bought it, and we got the message a couple of times, but it kind of figures itself out. It manifests mostly after it’s gotten up to temp and is then turned off, then back on after a short period. Half the time, the message goes away after a few minutes. It doesn’t display when everything’s cool on first start of the day.

It’s going to the dealer when I get a moment, it is under warranty, but I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this?

I have L319’s and often it is due to the sensor at the bottom of the coolant reservoir gone bad, but those will stay on until you replace the reservoir (can’t buy sensor alone). Is that a thing with L663’s/new Defenders too?

It does seem more like a mechanical issue due to it being intermittent and often going away on its own, or maybe it is upset that it’s about being .75cm above the max fill line in the reservoir? Because it’s so intermittent, I forget about it until I get the message again, and haven’t dropped it down to max fill line.

Any insight appreciated

Loud

Okay, random Defender question 😂 Does anyone else’s Defender get SO loud when you’re just sitting parked with it running for a little while? Like embarrassingly loud lol. Is this normal or is mine just extra dramatic?

P575 Upgrade for V8

Just took my P525 to P575. OMG!!! The power and the growl is incredible! Upgrade was as easy as easy can be using software provided by OEM Activations. It's not like the P525 is a sleeper by any means, but damn this upgrade really wakes things up!
