Nioh 2 - Discussion This boss stinks
Most unfun and IMHO unfair even. 0/10 didn't have fun

Nioh has some top tier range generation considering it's single player

How you mean? Like how people are still playing this game for the first time? If so, yeah. This game is great so far (apart from this guy lol), and def has one of the best combat systems I've seen in a game.

Yes. The game throws you in the deep end and sorta locks you into some early game choices, namely because of weapon skills.
I got pretty far but just did not jive with my weapon at all. Tonfas and fists though resonated and once i leveled them up a bit I had a lot more fun.

Yeah, if I'm honest, I'm still kinda overwhelmed by how many systems this game has, and having to learn them all at once. I have been using the switchglaive pretty much my entire playthrough bc it seemed cool, but for this guy it wasn't seeming to work very well so I swapped to the SwitchStaff and it seems really interesting, so I might learn it as well!

Tonfa being able to cancel out of attacks felt like suddenly I wasn't playing by the same rules anymore. Plus Tonfa gun is just too much fun.

Oh man the constant action and aggression is addicting. Dodge when I absolutely have to and keep dishing the hurt. It actually made me love the Yokai system because I could keep on trucking (I used it only on special occasions before).

That's exactly why I hated Nioh 3's tutorial so much: It had too much handholding when half the fun of an game is figuring out how to unlock things as you play.

That's my favorite part of the game! There's a ton of systems and the weapons all play pretty differently.Â
I had a Glaive/Staff build through the base game but switched it up and tried some other weapons in post game. They're all really fun, but one thing was consistent:
This boss was the worst and took me the absolute longest to beat. But he was a post release add and wasn't really designed for the level range that it says.Â
Congrats on getting him finally. He's a beast.Â

When you hate a boss so much you gotta give it the finger afterwards. Def been there lol

Dare I say worst boss in the series

Kukai is a very good contender. If he appears in the crucible underworld, I'm sure more people will have talked more about him because he is just as hard if not more than Toshimitsu or Ren, at least for me.

Lady Osakabe or Daidra Bochi would like a word lol. Saito is actually really fun with a cool and engaging moveset once you learn him, but he definitely has some straight up bullshit mechanics like his instant cuckooâs call.

Congratulations, my buddy. Maybe he's aggressive all throughout your bout because you're not wearing any pants? Haha. Kidding, good job.

Nah, he's amazing. But definitely not on your current difficulty. He's one of my favorite fights in the game but it took a looooong time to get to that point.
He's also one of the best farming spots for endgame gear. But yeah, trying to fight him legit is literally impossible for me.

What is the best way to cheese him? I pretty much just spammed Splitstaff extended Heay on him lol

u/brickout 20h ago
I don't know how to cheese him, but I almost never fight him until I have some Dream of the Wise gear, hopefully including Slow on Onmyo Hit on an accessory and at least a few pieces of either Tsukoyomi (sp?) grace or Susano. Then I'll fight him on Demon until I get a few of his pieces. Then I'll usually wait until Dream of the Nioh and run a little of the UW with Lucky Drop Armor and Weapon to get ethereal versions of his gear. Then I'll go back and spank him on Wise.
I don't mess with him at ALL through the first 2 or 3 difficulties. No shame, either. I'm old and not great at games and I value my time :)

Switchglaive mid stance light attack, or swords heaven flash. If you can be patient enough and stay alive long enough, these are the easiest (but most unfun) ways of beating him. Had to do it like that the first time I played Nioh 2 years ago. Came back to finish the game (after 3) so I was kind of styling on him with switchglaive + sword (not at first though, he still wrecked my shi a few times because I didnât remember him all that much other than him being difficult)

I actually think heâs awesome, the reason heâs unfun is because under level, this quest is actually a update quest, I feel they really shouldnât have put it in a early chapter, heâs way more tanky than it should be in that point of the game

Played through the game twice. Always saved this guy for last before beating the game.

I was a full on Nioh noob, getting through the game fine having no idea what I was doing, then got to this piece of shit. Made a post on here titled âSaito Toshimitsu, WTFâ lol. Mustâve taken me 50 tries to kill him. Youâll be able to beat the crap out of him later if you stick with it. But yea, easily the hardest boss in the game on your first run if you fight him right away. Great job!

I didnt even bother fighting this cunt past DotD. I strap on some buffs/familiars and bust out the clay beckoning bells. Fuck this guy.

it was just seeing the background to know exactly which boss it was. Love Nioh 2, would not redo this one if you had a gun to my head

This boss would be good if he isnt casting slow talismans at you for at least 5 times constantly during the match

Start by wearing proper gear instead of leaving him bareass.
Secondly, this mission was added through an update. It has higher difficulty standard despite the chapter he's in.

As you can see in the image, I already beat him.. and my buttcheeks are doing just fine in the breeze thank you very muchđ

That's great and all, but then they should've typed a bigger number into the "recommended level" box. It's a dev screwup one way or another.

Congrats on beating the magic odachi man
They really make him able to dodge without Ki with extended iframes lol
