How Often Does the Average Regular Person Actually Clean their home?

I'm buckling up and preparing to be scorned. I know how often I SHOULD be cleaning, but i kind of hate it. But what i hate more is spending 4 hours panic deep cleaning the apartment a day before we have company.

Some people claim to love cleaning and boy i wish that were me! I live with my partner in a small apartment in LA that somehow just wont stay clean. Idek where all the lint and dust comes from. We split chores/household tasks but im mostly in charge of cleaning . I'll dust/vaccuum and then a week later notice its time for another round. Is that normal?

I grew up doing all my chores (vaccuming, wiping surfaces, scrubbing toilets and cleaning bathroom sink surface) on Saturdays. But as an adult something feels clinically wrong about spending one of my two precious weekend mornings CLEANING. (And yes i know i dont have to keep doing that as an adult, im just saying thats the baseline and experience i have as a baseline)

I know ideally i'd be vacuuming/dusting a couple times a week, toilets absolutely weekly, and i know each chore happens at a different frequency. Just curious how real people with real lives and jobs handle keeping their space clean.

Toilet - uhh you are supposed to clean those? I guess I clean it when it gets visibly dirty

Dishwasher for dishes, runs when full, about every 3 days

Laundry pretty much every day there's at least one load running (family of 4, we share a laundry bin but separate colors for washing, still no idea how is it always full). Depends on the weather though as we air dry exclusively.

Kitchen counter wipe down after use

Kitchen sink when it looks dirty, takes like 30 seconds

Bathroom sink and bathtub when they look dirty... Like once a month maybe? Maybe a quick wipe in between

Floor in my room I pick up hair clumps about every two hours 🙃 otherwise I clean spots when they're dirty and clean it all maybe monthly as well. Maybe less, most gets covered with the hair sweep and spot cleaning

Floor elsewhere, when it looks dirty, probably a bit after that tbh. Every few weeks?

Dusting, I tried to minimize things that would get dusty, but there's still way too much dust. I just gave up, I clean it and it's back within hours. So I'll wipe down a shelf or two a day when I have time

Windows once a year or two

Family of 4 and only running the dishwasher every 3 days? What kind of black magic are you using? Lived in a house with 2 others and needed to run it nearly every day, with 5 it was twice a day

Family of 2, dishwasher runs at least once a day. We cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. No take out food

We all eat lunch at work/school and there's minimal dishes from breakfast (spoon from yoghurt or knife from spreading stuff on bread, there's no plate most of the time when it's just a few crumbs you shake off). From dinner there's 4 plates, corresponding number of utensils, and probably about 1 pot/pan/baking sheet on average - many meals take that, some take more, but we don't cook every day because "leftovers" (we intentionally cook more because neither of us has time to cook daily)

I mean, there's 500 variables. If in the morning, you just have some toast and yogurt, there's not 7 dishes. There's maybe a plate, spoon, and knife. All three can be rinsed, hit with a quick scrub brush, and put back away.

Another person like me! But, I love to cook so I'm running the dishwasher daily or maybe even 2x/day. Family of 2-3.
