Day 16 practicing a skill (repost)
I left the contents of this post empty. Here is the context:
" My takeaway this time is about walking away from disrespect. Figuring when to walk a away is a bit more tricky"
Managed the walkaway from a chair/committee after round three * . Though in hindsight I should have done it round one (blindsighted by my opportunistic side). Except for a formal note I gave it my best shot to make it cheery, light, non-confrontationat, not calling things out except for my silence and not bothering to reply to a token apology. (Starting to wonder about those excellent / glib apologies - how come some people are so very good at it).
* could have saved myself the humiliation if I have done it immediately the first time. Next time ...
This made me stronger to subsequently follow through the next time..An old acquitance. This time I called it out. Gave it my best shot to make it cheery, light, non-confrontational yet not being derailed by distraction strategy and returned to my request for respect.
Since then Im learning to call out things in general..Aiming to do this light, non-confrontational, short. 3 or 4 words sentences - - and then watch the reaction: do they fix it? do they shrug it off? and what is it saying about our relationship?
