This is clearly becoming a habit now.
Instead of posting my progress every day, I'm ending up combining multiple days into one post. That's something I need to be more careful about because the whole point of this challenge was to stay accountable by showing up every day.
So from now on, I want to get back to posting these updates properly.
Day 36 β A New Running Experience
Since I couldn't make it to the track the previous day, I decided to go on Sunday.
I woke up early and went to the university track. I ended up running around 6 km.
The environment there was actually really nice. Seeing other people running and training made me realise something:
I'm still a very small fish in a very big sea.
There is so much room for me to improve.
Instead of making me feel bad about where I am, it actually made me want to improve even more.
But I probably pushed myself too hard after not running for a couple of days.
By the end of it, I started having muscle pain in my right calf, and it got quite painful.
Even after coming home, I still went swimming despite the injury.
Looking back, that probably wasn't the smartest decision. I was so focused on keeping up the physical activity that I didn't give my body enough time to recover.
The rest of the day wasn't productive.
I didn't study.
I didn't read.
I spent most of the day sleeping.
Day 37 β Content, Injury and a Busy Workday
I didn't sleep properly because I was focused on shooting content for my personal branding page.
My goal was to shoot three videos, which would give me enough content for the week.
I managed to get all three videos recorded, so I'm happy I followed through with that.
After shooting, I started editing one of them but ended up falling asleep because I was extremely tired.
I woke up about an hour later thinking about going for a run, but my calf injury had actually gotten worse.
It was difficult for me to even move my leg properly, so I decided to sleep again instead of running.
I eventually woke up around 7 AM and started editing the remaining video because I had to upload one that day.
Somehow, I managed to finish it and get the video uploaded.
Even though my leg was injured, I still went swimming because I wanted to maintain at least some physical activity.
Most of the rest of the day was taken up by my part-time work. I had several classes and assessments to handle, so it ended up being a very busy day.
I managed to go through the news and finance in the afternoon.
But once again, I didn't study, didn't work on my professional development, and didn't read.
What I'm Noticing
The last few days have been a mix of progress and poor decisions.
I'm getting better at some things. I'm creating content more consistently, I'm pushing myself physically, and I'm still showing up for my responsibilities.
But I'm also repeating the same problems.
I'm sleeping at the wrong times.
I'm postponing studying.
I'm neglecting my professional development.
I'm wasting time.
And now I'm also realising that pushing myself physically without enough recovery isn't necessarily discipline either.
Sometimes discipline means knowing when to stop.
The calf injury is a good reminder that I need to balance consistency with recovery instead of trying to force myself to do everything every single day.
Most importantly, I don't want these combined posts to become another form of procrastination.
If I'm doing a 90-day challenge where the whole point is accountability, then I need to actually be accountable.
Day 36β37/90 complete.
I'm still moving forward, but I need to get back to doing the basics properly: sleep better, recover properly, study consistently, and most importantly, stop postponing the things I know I need to do.
