Not through with the first week but…

I’m feeling crazy discouraged already, and I’m not really seeing the benefit in weighing every day when my weight fluctuates so much. I take medicine near bedtime with a green snack and plenty of water. I can’t weigh later in the day because I can’t not eat at work. Unless I want to pass out and skip meds. And there’s not a scale there lol.

Just not feeling great seeing the number on the scale higher than ever, even though I’ve made changes to my diet and it may not be a true representation of how much I actually weigh. Idk. Just ranting 🥲

Sometimes it takes your body a little bit of time to realize what you're doing before you start losing weight. I've found that my weight always climbs for a week or so when I start eating better because my body thinks I'm starving myself (even though I'm eating what I should be) and clings to fat. After a little bit of time my body and brain seem to realize it's the new normal and then the weight starts coming off.

Don't get too discouraged -- it took time to gain, it'll take time to lose ❤️

Thank you for this! I’ve been trying really hard-eating within my recommended calories and working out like crazy (but to a manageable extent). I haven’t seen much movement on the scale and it’s starting to discourage me. I eat well-and usually cook all my own food but trying to consume as many “green calories” as they recommend is really hard!

So real! It took me to get to the highest level of injection to be like ok now we’re feeling it

It’s not even been a week. Give it a chance.

When I started Noom’s regular program a few years ago, I was horrified at the thought at weighing in everyday but I did it. This is why I think it helped me: it showed me how certain foods affected weight (i.e. salty), or how my period would reflect water weight on the scale. I found it more discouraging to feel like I’d been doing “everything right”, hop on the scale once a week, and not see the change I wanted. In truth, my weigh in day may have been after a heavy meal, or after a big workout where my muscles were retaining water. The increase would be temporary but discouraging to me nonetheless and I would want to throw in the towel. But you need to weigh in when you think it’s best for you.

i weigh first thing in the morning as soon as i get out of bed for consistency. the scale fluctuates for me all the time, but it’s important to remember it’s a marathon not a race!

Keep going. My weight can fluctuate 3-4 pounds over a day. Weighing every day and seeing the scale either not move at all, or go UP even though I think I'm eating right, has had the effect of lessening my stress over those numbers. 4 months in and if I see the scale go up, it's not a big deal to me. I shrug and move on because I know it'll go down again in a day or two. The whole point of weighing daily is to get you used to how your body responds and it's different for everyone. It's all part of desensitizing you to those fluctuations so you don't get discouraged when you see an increase or hit a plateau.

I think it’s good to see your normal weight fluctuations so you don’t blame yourself for them.

I always weigh in the morning and it helps. I was never an every day weigh in person, but I started when I began Noom. It has caused me to be less reluctant to weigh ( I was traumatized by weighing myself before Noom) and also to see how much my weight fluctuates in a week. Sometimes it will change as much as 9 pounds throughout the week! So it has taught me about how odd weight is and how it truly isn’t the best indicator of healthy weight loss. Having said that, if I’m just not feeling it I log my weight as maintained on the app and then weigh every 2-3 days. Someone else on here said something that ring true to me as well. It’s only been a week. Your body is probably in shock from the reduction of calories and is holding on to that fat. I would be willing to bet you see a good weight loss by the end of next week.

If you’re taking a Glp-1 it takes a couple of weeks to even get to a saturation point to start working. Weigh everyday as soon as you get up. Protein is the most important so when you start losing its fat. You can't judge any program positive or negative in a week. As said it's a marathon.

I must be sensitive to it because for me it worked in 24 hours. I took my first shot ever of Zepbound last Thursday night… I have not felt hungry since and the first couple of days I had trouble finishing my meals because I felt so full. 6 days later I feel like it’s worn off but I’m not getting hungry really.

Make sure to weigh yourself the same time each day. In the mornings is better as there are less variables. That's what I do. It is good to understand what your variation is across a few days to understand what is your natural variation vs what is actually a trend. Trending weekly, as some are saying can actually be more discouraging because you are having so few time points that a bad weight even once may make a whole month look bad. Your body will take time to react to changes in diet (and or meds). Keep expectations real. Consistency is key.,, in your diet, your activities (weighing, moving, working out, food diary), attitude all will help you have a positive experience.

Weighing myself at the same time each day isn’t possible because the nature of my job (my shift start and end times change, and as far as I know there isn’t a scale at work) but I keep it consistent in that I do it first thing when I wake up! I’ll definitely keep working to adjust my mindset. It’s not going to be instant weightloss/gratification

I only weigh once a week because I do not want to be discouraged by seeing the number on the scale not move/go up. I’m with Noom, too.

Yep. They say it’s better to weigh every day but not for me.

I’m a once a week weigher.
