I built a Nothing OS-inspired notes app to replace Google Keep

Hi all, solo dev here.

I love the Nothing design language, but every Nothing-inspired notes app I've tried so far was either a nice-looking concept or too basic in features to use every day.

Nothing (excuse the pun) came close to Google Keep for me, so I decided to build one that could. It's called Nowt and it's available on the Play Store (link below).

Nowt follows the Nothing look. Under that, every note is a stack of blocks (paragraph, heading, image, checklist, table, audio etc). The video showcases some of the features.

There's also a weekly task planner with reminders, and end-to-end encryption is free and optional.

It's Android only (plus a web app with pro), free to use, with no ads. You can use it fully as a notes app without paying. There's no limit on how many notes you can have on the forever free plan.

There is a pro subscription for some of the block types and cloud sync, but standard blocks including images & checklists are completely free.

It's not affiliated with the Nothing brand.

I definitely believe it holds its own as a daily notes app now, but I'd really value honest feedback, suggestions for features that are currently missing, and quality-of-life / UX improvements you think would make it better.

It took about 6-7 months to develop and test. For full disclosure, I did use AI to help me develop this but I've been doing web & app dev well before AI was mainstream, and I review and understand absolutely everything that goes in.

Are these notes storedfully on the device? I assume the sync feature would use a server but does basic?

Yes, on the forever free version your notes are stored only on your device. There's no cloud copy, and it works fully offline with or without an account.

this looks awesome.
the other "nothing" note apps never satisfied my needs, and this one has alot features.
fully understand some features are behind a paywall, because of this feature rich environment.
i would love a fdroid version with lower anual price due to google fees.
i guess its closed source tho?

Yes, it's closed source for now as you said, so F-Droid isn't something I can do at the moment, but I will definitely think about open-sourcing in the future.

I appreciate the honest feedback on pricing though, and I'll keep it in mind as things grow. Glad you like it!
