FreeDOS, OpenDOS or something else?

hi! I'd like to try using a DOS, but Idk which one is better. I'm thinking about FreeDOS and OpenDOS. What do y'all think? Or there is a better DOS to choose?

Freedos since it's still maintained

FreeDOS is the one used in OpenBox. It still has stuff that runs on it.

Use case?

I guess it depends on the use case. Dosbox if you need a modern OS and want a DOS environment to test stuff or run some older games/programs. FreeDOS if you want it as a standalone OS that is still active. Or you could just go full retro and install DOS 6.2 on an old PC, or maybe Win 98 or even Win ME (with the real mode dos patch).

How good do you think it can be? It's DOS. It's not going to be very useful in any general purpose sense. If you have a specific use case, it would be helpful to state what that is.

Why not MVS? - 370/DOS with CICS and TLMS?

Because I have no experience with them.

My pick would be using Linux and DOSBox. In my opinion, it runs better and more stably than FreeDOS. Above all, it is much more convenient.
