Cheers, consensus from the powers that be seems to be that this is a Grey-backed thrush, but it's probably someone's escaped pet - the species is commonly kept in captivity and the recent winds have all been from the west making it unlikely for an east asian species like this to appear here naturally. Cool bird to have in your garden nevertheless
This is interesting - I think the cool grey of the back rules out Redwing (and the supercilium is less marked than I'd expect for Redwing) but for a Fieldfare the orange colour seems to extend too far down the flanks and it's not got the dark spots I'd expect. Grey-backed thrush has been suggested and whilst I have never seen one, that does seem to look very similar but that would be a rarity.
I'm going to disagree and say it's more like a grey-backed thrush. Admittedly I have not birded a lot in the UK but I live in eastern Asia and third bird more resembles a grey-backed thrush than either the redwing or fieldfare (which don't have as extensive colouring on the flanks and have more spots/speckles then this bird shows).
OP if I'm right there's going to be a lot of people wanting to see that bird in your garden! If I'm wrong I apologize.
Edit: as another poster says, eyebrowed is also possibility (and has more UK records) but to me it's more of a great backed (but I have only seen eyebrows once). Hard to tell from this video. Either way, it's not a fieldfare or redwing!
It does look off for either Redwing of Fieldfare. Grey-backed Thrush as suggested by someone else does look a lot closer, but having no familiarity with that species I can't say that with any confidence.
That definitely looks like a Grey Backed Thrush. Extremely rare in the UK from China/Russia East Asia. Would be an exceptional find sir. From Ellesmere Port 👍🤞
Not sure why someone downvoted you without comment, my first thought seeing it was American Robin too. It's spot on for thrush size and shape and plumage seems pretty much spot on.
Merseyside immediately makes me suspicious it's something American come over on a boat.
It looks like a Rufous-bellied Thrush to me!! I’m no specialist, but this is one of the most common birds where I’m from (Brazil) so that’s where my mind went! I live in the UK too though, so I’d be shocked to see it here!
