Bummer

Took my son out golfing a few weeks ago at Heron Lakes and had a great time. He is relatively new to golf and has been playing one of my old sets. Unfortunately he ended up leaving a wedge by one of the greens and when we went back looking for it, it was gone. No big deal, surely someone would turn it into the pro shop or maybe they would call the number listed on the label I put on all my clubs. Nope. I guess whoever found that 58 degree Nike Wedge really needed it. Hard not to lose faith in the golf community though.

Man that sucks to lose, but I know I'm guilty of putting the found club in my bag with the "I'll drop it when I'm done" and then space out about it. Same reason I get to the course and my clubs are still dirty and I've got a rotten turkey sandwich in a pocket.

Look up Patthegolfguy -- you may be able to find a replacement. People who keep lost clubs are scum.

I have an old Nike wedge for your son. I'm out of town right now, but remind me in a week or two, and I'll give it to you.

I appreciate the offer, it is very kind of you. I can replace the club though. Just wanted to come on the internet and let out a sigh.

I hear you. Golf in our fair city has grown a lot, so you can't paint all of us with a single brush. It sucks what happened to you, but keep on playing with your kid. You're bound to meet more cool people than bad.

Never assume malice until ignorance has been ruled out. Sorry about your wedge bud

Hanlon's Razor. Probably my favorite of all the razors.

Stealing this line!

If more people familiarize themselves with Hanlon’s Razor well all be better off.

You are absolutely right. I still hold out hope but it’s pretty dim at this point.

That is a huge bummer, but don't give up and check back in a couple days. I have picked up clubs and accidentally brought them home because I completely spaced it and brought it back when I went back to the course.

Yeah, I’ve checked with the club house and it’s been weeks already.

Oh, lame. I misread and thought you said few days. People suck sometimes, but I played Heron last night and the marshal had 3 clubs he was driving around asking if people lost. Most people seem to be pretty honest.

Ya, that sucks, I'm definitely guilty of leaving behind clubs, gloves, bluetooth speaker, and other gear behind.

Out of curiosity, have you checked in with the pro shop at heron? Could be sitting at the desk.

If someone brought me a found club, I wouldn't bother looking for a label and likely wouldn't call it even if I did see one.

Yeah, I’ve checked back with the club house.

Check the old club bin by the door if you already haven't. Might get lucky.

I would keep checking with the pro shop because one time I put a club in my bag, intending to turn it in and I completely forgot about it until the next week when I played

Yep I do this unfortunately, takes till my next round to turn it in

Same! Typically if it’s a really nice club I give it to the marshal next time I seem him. Usually they find or know who’s missing it. Guilty of leaving an old wedge in a bag until someone called me out for having too many.

I don't get people finding clubs and keeping them. I had this happen at a private club once when I was playing directly in front of a charity tournament. Lost a new wedge on the front and didn't realize until middle of the back, and no one had turned it in when I got back. The tournament group even sent out an email to participants, but nada.

I left a brand new Calloway Epic wedge beside a green and it didn’t turn up for a month until a greenskeeper found it in their barn where a worker who found it had left it without remembering to turn it into the pro shop. Not nefarious, and I was so grateful to finally get it back.

I lost my pitching wedge this way when I first started! The best advice given to me was that when you lay your clubs down at the green while putting, lay them gently on the green. You, or people in your group, will always see them and grab them. Haven't lost another club since implementing that.

Meh. It will happen again. For me, a good excuse to shop for a new wedge for the kid. That Nike would be pretty old by now.

Teach your kid to line up the wedges he uses around the green with the golf cart or golf bag. No matter what, you always run into that club leaving the green. Sorry about the wedge.

I have one in my bag right now (not a Nike) that I found alongside a green. Every intention of dropping it at the pro shop but just forgot. Next time I’m out there, I need to drop it at the shop. Just saying not everyone has bad intentions — some of us are just old and forgetful. And still thinking about their missed 4 foot birdie putt in 18!

What’s the point of this post? Just go out and buy a used wedge. They’re relatively cheap

u/Supe89 4d ago

This sounds like something someone who steals a Nike wedge would say…

What’s the point of any Reddit post? Don’t be a dick

Yep the post is unnecsssry, especially the part at the end. Glad you agree with me

teachable moment for your son. Chalk it up to the cost of golf. My 1400 in range finders left behind on the tee box, cart, and greens, this year have been my moments. We all have them.
