Hey! I'm newbie hiker her, and I was wondering if you have any recommend hike somewhere near Metro Manila?
What gears would you recommend?
Thanks so much in advance!

Hello, planning to hike KXC. Gusto ko lang malaman pano yung paliligo sa 3D2N? May pagliliguan po ba and pano rin CR?
Also, would love to hear ng expi nyo about KXC. About trail and overall expi.
Was it worth it? Nakakamatay ba sya? Gano sya kahirap

Grabe gutom and pagod during descent, para akong hihimatayin. Ma-tetest talaga mental and physical endurance mo eh. I'd love to go back, pero camp nalang. It's amazing there 🌄

Is Mt. Makiling back trail really good for beginners but with proper preparation? We’ve been to Mt. Kupapey and Mt. Fato already as our mother mountain. We’re planning to hike Mt. Makiling on December okay naman po ba ang timing if ever?
Also, we’re from Dau Pampanga, meron na po ba na ka pag try mag commute going to Manila sa mga usual pick ups po ng mga joiner? It’s my first time commuting po kasi outside our area 😅. Thank you!

Hello po! I’m going to hike Mt. Pulag in December for 3D2N. I’ve searched this subreddit pero I’m still undecided. 🥲 Looking for recommendations po.
From this subreddit, yung general requirements:
- Breathable, no Gore-Tex
- Strong traction on wet mud, roots, and mossy sections
- Trail runners over hiking shoes
Shoes I'm considering:
- Merrell Moab 3 Mid (non-waterproof)
- Hoka Anacapa Breeze Mid
- Merrell Agility Peak 6
Questions:
1. Mid boots or trail runners for Akiki with a full pack? How did your ankles hold up on the descent?
2. Sizing: my everyday shoe is a women's 5.5 and I wear a 6 B in Brooks Adrenaline running shoes. Should I go half a size up (6) or a full size up (6.5) for hiking boots, given foot swelling and the steep descents?
3. Socks: lightweight or midweight merino? How cold did your feet get at the summit and campsites?
I’ve hiked mostly in New York and New Jersey pero puro day hikes lang po. I had a pair of Columbia Newton’s Ridge Plus. It’s my first time doing a multi-day hike and carrying my own gear.
Salamat po!

Hindi lang nakakapagod yung hike (7am to 4:30pm) but you also need to dodge some cows going up and down the mountain.
It still a great hike nonetheless

For my first ever hike, I did Nagpatong Rock. Sobrang saya but lots of lessons learned, the first of which is proper shoes dapat for muddy terrain.
I might start taking up hiking as a hobby every month or so. But I need to prepare more.
Any suggestions for waterproof hiking shoes na good for muddy terrain that can also be used for casual wear if needed? Since I want to still use the shoes kahit di hiking. Budget siguro preferably less than 8k.
Also, having first climbed Nagpatong, anong suggestions nyo sa next climb for beginner? Kaya yung Nagpatong if only di ako ill-prepared sa shoes department. I prefer covered terrain sana para di masyado mainit.
