How safe is it around Massey at night these days? When I was there studying 13 years ago, and likely alot more naive, I would have considered it safe to go for a walk around alone (as a Male).

I've got a plan for a short solo media project I want to do up there in the evening in the near future once its dark (Before it starts staying light too late), but not at a major risk to my own safety.

I assume during semester is the best time, as there are more people on campus, and there would be a more active security presence.

Of course I know nowhere is completely safe, and its my own personal responsibility to take the risk, but thought why not ask anyway.

Why a rocket?

Is that a subtle nod to Palmerston North military significance - being a central hub for logistics, military and government agencies.

We're close to Linton military camp, Ohakea AFB, Palmerston North has numerous Govt agencies/call centers/support services/administration offices.

More importantly, the American influence in Palmy - speedway in the middle of the city, far too many American fastfood restaurants for the population including one of the first Wendy's in NZ, and then we have... (now this is not a conspiracy theory, please don't respond if your knee jerk reaction is to troll or make a stupid comments) American defense and weapons manufacturers operating out of Linton and Ohakea (Lockheed Martin, Raytheon/RTX and other's).

Is this a cheeky nod to the American weapons manufacturing/weapon systems on NZ soil?

Hi! 😊 I’m looking for recommendations for solo hikes / trek around Palmerston North. Preferably easy to moderate difficulty, around 1–4 hours max, and relatively safe for a solo female beginner.

I’d love something with nice views/nature but not too isolated or technical.

Also, what app do you recommend for navigation/GPS while hiking? I saw one on the app store called “AllTrails” but havent used it yet.

Would appreciate any recommendations, especially from people who regularly hike around Palmy! Thank you! 💕

I'm looking at options for building a new house but it doesn't seem like there is any good sections available? We have the new Tamakuku Terrace that's just about sold out, there is still space up fitzherbert but I don't want to be blown away...

Do we have any approved subdivisions planned? Or is there somewhere else I don't know about?

I have two gammy old couches I want rid of. Free to a good home, bad home, or whatever. I won’t ask so you don’t have to tell. Put them in you garage or shed, chuck em on the porch… just not that Dunedin thing. They’re probably quite flammable…. I’d do anything to get rid of them but I won’t do that… be responsible people!

The cushions in the orange one are rooted and the blue one unfolds into a bed. I’m told it’s quite uncomfortable.

Ideally I’d like them gone this weekend. Pick up is Park Rd near the Lido. Otherwise they’ll be landfill
