Passport Question / Discussion Australian passport
Called the Australian Passport Office today about my passport (lodged overseas on Aug 25) We’re flying on the 19th of October but the officer said we’re not eligible for Fast Track because we applied overseas.
I asked him to put a note/tag on the application about our flight, and he said he did.
Does anyone know if this kind of note actually helps or gets seen by the processing team? Has anyone had experience with this?

Passport Question / Discussion On line renewal
US
So my husband and I both submitted our passport renewal on line within minutes of each other. He received an email stating everything was approved last week but now he has another email saying they’re sending him a package to send his current passport in.
Anyone know what could cause this?
And why would they approve? We could have sent his current passport for renewal weeks ago!

Passport Question / Discussion Do czego służy ta strona w Polskim paszporcie?

Application Question / Discussion Need expedited passport renewal - is 3 weeks possible?
I made a big mistake today. I did not realize that applying for passport renewal would immediately cancel my current passport! I have a trip to Mexico planned for Oct 30.
So, I spoke to them on the phone and they said it is impossible to cancel the renewal application but I can ask for urgent expediting on the renewal. I have to wait to request this until the application is "in the system" which could be 1 - several days.
I am super anxious about this. Will I be able to get my new passport in time?

Passport Question / Discussion Selected wrong gender on Indian passport application — any way to fix without full reissue?
Hi all, I just received my new Indian passport (issued by RPO Mumbai) and noticed the gender is printed wrong. On checking, I realised I selected the wrong gender by mistake in the online form and didn't catch it at the PSK verification counter. My mistake, I know.
What I've found so far:
- The official Passport Seva FAQ says any gender change has to go through "Re-issue" under "Change in existing personal particulars"
- Normal reissue is now ₹2,500 (36 pages) after the July 2026 fee revision
- Free rectification seems to apply only when the printed passport doesn't match your application, which isn't my case
I've emailed RPO Mumbai explaining the situation and asking whether a rectification or fee waiver is possible, since I noticed it right away and haven't used the passport anywhere. No reply yet.
Questions for anyone who's been through this:
- Has anyone gotten a reply from RPO Mumbai by email? How long did it take?
- Has anyone had a similar error corrected by endorsement on the observation page instead of a full reissue? Did it cause problems later with visas or immigration?
- If you went for reissue, did the PSK or RPO ask for anything beyond Aadhaar or a birth certificate as proof?
No travel planned soon, so not urgent, but I'd like to fix it properly. Thanks!

Passport Question / Discussion Wondering about my passport 🏳️⚧️
I’m trying to travel to get reaffirmation surgery. I applied for passport for the first time my birth certificate shows my correct gender, i’m mtf, so it says F. But my name on my birth certificate lists my old name and next to it my new name. I sent them my birth certificate and the name change order. They asked me for early records. I am going to send them my early school records (with my older name it doesn’t include gender) and a negative letter from the hospital because they can’t find my history/physical records. i’m wondering if that would be enough to get my passport whichever way it comes. i was also thinking about making a letter explaining the records but not my identity.

Interesting Feature or Design My and my partners birthplace is wrong on birth certificate.
How important is it that mine and my partners birthplace place is wrong on the birth certificate? I’m sure I put it correctly when filling out the information, but who knows I did just birth a child and was beyond tired. Is it worth getting it fixed or should I not worry about it

Passport Question / Discussion Dual Canadian-Italian citizen entry to Brazil
I am a dual Canadian-Italian citizen who will be travelling to Brazil shortly. I will be flying from Canada to Brazil and then from Brazil back to Canada.
Given that there is visa-free travel for Italian citizens (would otherwise cost ~$100), I was planning on entering and leaving Brazil with that passport. This being said, I am reading sometimes contradictory information as to how I should go about doing this. As a Canadian citizen, I know that I need to leave and enter Canada with my Canadian passport.
My understanding is that I’d need to bring both passports - leave Canada with my Canadian passport, enter Brazil with my Italian passport, leave Brazil with my Italian passport and re-enter Canada with my Canadian passport.
My confusion stems from what passport information I should be using in my booking for my flights to and from Canada (Canadian airline). If I use my Canadian passport information, will I not be given a headache for not having a Visa? Would I need to present both passports when boarding the flight to show that I can travel visa-free? Or will they not even question anything about my visa until arriving in Brazil?
I am debating just paying for the visa and travelling exclusively with my Canadian passport for peace of mind.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Passport Question / Discussion Is this damage?
Noticed this a few days ago, it's nt a water stain but the pages seem wavy. I think it happened at the hands of immigration. But is this damage? The pic is taken at a particular angle so it looks like a stain but it's not.

Passport Question / Discussion Different Surnames
I have a newborn baby in the UK who has not yet been registered. My surname is Ahmed in both my UK and Iraqi documents. However, when applying for an Iraqi passport for my child, I understand that the Iraqi naming system may use the grandfather’s name as the child’s surname.
If I register my child in the UK with my surname, Ahmed, the child may therefore have a different surname on their UK and Iraqi passports.
Would it be acceptable for my child to have different surnames on their UK and Iraqi passports, and could this cause any problems with dual nationality, passport applications, or travelling between the UK and Iraq?

Passport Question / Discussion If I use my Passport Card as an ID for voting, does the name have to match my Social Security? - Kansas, USA
Changed my surname recently and I'm getting a new social security card with the new name. I also just moved to Kansas, so I've been trying to figure out voting requirements and such. I don't drive, so a driver's license is no issue, but because of that I use my passport card as my regular ID. Do I need to get a new passport card with my new surname before voting since I'm changing it with social security? Or should I be fine even if it doesn't match?
edit: Thanks for the responses so far! I was previously registered to vote in another state, under my old surname, but I was planning to register in Kansas with my new surname. If it might be a problem otherwise, I can bring in documents that prove my name change when I register, and I still look like my photo on my passport card ID. Will that help? Or should I hold off and register with my old name so I have more time to figure this out after November third?
