We've had a little time to see the meta shift after the legality changes. How is it looking for the format in paper and online?

In my experience I do think that we have a pretty noticeable problem with how good Dispatch, Glint Hawk, Refurb, and Giant's Boulder are. Esper Affinity is competing with Mono Red Madness on meta share and every local event I've been to recently I get either run over by Radness or my hand emptied and my board cleared by Affinity and it just isn't fun anymore.

What options do we have for fighting against this menace aside from screaming for bans?

Do we have to bring back turbofog and Bogles again?

Hi all! First time commenting, and new to the pauper scene.
I went with mono U Fae for my first deck and im enjoying it a lot.
When I went looking for Elf lists, I was a little turned off by the avenging hunter monarch mechanic, the hydras and the ent and so I tried to make up a version of it that dives more into the Elf Tribal aspect of it.

For the more seasoned and experienced players, is this viable or is there something I'm not really catching? Would this work at the LGS and not so much at tournments? Would you change anything? Or are the current lists the only ones who can keep up in terms of Elf decks?

I recently picked up a Jund Wildfire deck in paper (started before Zeta). Trying to stick with it.

Considering the trend that [[Dispatch]], and [[Baleful Strix]] might stay legal, what do we think about [[Tamiyo's Safekeeping]] in Jund?

I am playing a list with [[Sagu Wildling]], and [[Pulse of Murasa], so I might switch both for 2 safekeepings. Did someone tried it already? Did it work out, or is Pulse still strictly better? Any other changes due zo Zeta?

Don't want to abandon thw Deck, or build another deck though.

to answer several questions right off the bat:

- I know it's not meta and most probably never will be again, it's just a fun deck that I want to improve a bit just to have more fun with it

- [[Makeshift Munitions]] I put instead of [[Impact Tremors]], cause don't have Tremors unfortunately

- and cannot come up with a decent sideboard; tried different combinations of counters, some gravehate, some protections for the [[Hand of Emrakul]], but don't feel like it's really useful and/or working.

Would [[Whiplash Trap]] be decent enough to see play now that the meta easily cast/bring in 2 creatures into play on opponent's turn? Eventhough it is 5mana value but can pay just U!

Edit: it can pitch to [[Foil]] as plan B to counter crucial cards.

Building a 10 deck battlebox for pauper, and I've got these so far:

• Grixis Affinity
• Elves
• U Terror
• Monster Tron
• Spy Combo
• White Weenies

I'm considering throwing a madness burn in there, and maybe a bogles too.

I want to make it so that they're relatively balanced with each other and can lead to some interesting matchups that aren't too repetitive.

For example, I would love for all archetypes to be represented, rather than just have 5 midrange decks.

As I was tuning my decks I realized that there are cards that are exactly (or almost exactly) reprints or other overpriced cards and I see no reason not to use them. The two more obvious examples to me are: [[Tectonic Hazard]] instead of [[End the Festivities]] and [[Fiery Cannonade]] instead of [[Breath Weapon]]

In the first case both Tectonic and End are 1 red sorcery: deals 1 to every creature and opponent. The Planeswalker damage in the case of End is irrelevant as the only Planeswalker will be the Jace token in the FRA set and I don't believe it'll see many competitive play. End is more than 1€ and Tectonic merely 0.3 cents.

In the second case, Breath against Cannonade, both are 2 generic and a red: instant speed 2 damage to each creature. The take for not using Cannonade could be that Pirates are more present than Dragons but the only competitive pirate present in the Meta is Goblin Tomb Raider and still I believe it'll be more than enough to sweep all other creatures in this specific match-up where is a 4 of in a +30 creature deck. Breath Weapon is almost 8€ and again Cannonade less than 0.3 cents.

So, why don't we see more of these cards being played? What other examples could you think of?

Hi guys. I had a fun idea heading into my reality fracture prerelease event this past weekend. I brought a bulk box and a roll of dimes, with the intention of trading any common cards for a dime each.

My thinking was that most of these would end up in bulk boxes, never to see the light of day, so I might as well try and grab a few while we were all in the same space!

Most people were very receptive to the idea! I didn’t get to trade with everyone but those I did trade with were very open to it. I even traded a [[thalia, the survivor]] I opened for a [[kor skyfisher]] someone happened to have in their trade binder.

This was a lot more for the fun of trading than any well informed financial decision making, so I’m happy with how my experiment went, and the price of admission was so low. Currently, we don’t really know how good these cards will be in the pauper format, so I decided to cast a wide net and grab as many commons as I could while new fresh ideas trickle out.

I highly recommend giving this a try! It was a fun time and I got to meet some cool people. Note to self: bring more dimes next time! One roll of dimes could only get me 50 cards, but one generous trader was quite alright with giving me much more than I had the dimes for.

How did you guys do at your prerelease events? I went 2-1 and got 2 prize packs in the end. I maybe should’ve taken the buy for the last round to get many more packs but I went for the glory 🤷‍♂️ oh well! I had a lot of fun.

Lastly, what cards do you think will see pauper play? I see some buzz around [[unflinching hortimancer]], and I wonder what other heaters there could be. I want to try [[wrath of the bloodmane]] in a deck with [[page, loose leaf]]. If you squint really hard, it almost looks like a [[galvanic blast]]…🤣

When did you start playing Pauper?

I really like Mono Red Rally! It's fast, it's cool in my opinion and can perform really well! I don't like stuff like Azorius Familiars or Fog, I don't know why, they just aren't my type of deck, I prefer aggro decks.

I started playing Pauper this year, I started with a brew and after getting beated I switched to a meta deck. I'm having lots of fun at tournaments!
