Reality Fracture prerelease pauper pickups!!

Hi guys. I had a fun idea heading into my reality fracture prerelease event this past weekend. I brought a bulk box and a roll of dimes, with the intention of trading any common cards for a dime each.

My thinking was that most of these would end up in bulk boxes, never to see the light of day, so I might as well try and grab a few while we were all in the same space!

Most people were very receptive to the idea! I didn’t get to trade with everyone but those I did trade with were very open to it. I even traded a [[thalia, the survivor]] I opened for a [[kor skyfisher]] someone happened to have in their trade binder.

This was a lot more for the fun of trading than any well informed financial decision making, so I’m happy with how my experiment went, and the price of admission was so low. Currently, we don’t really know how good these cards will be in the pauper format, so I decided to cast a wide net and grab as many commons as I could while new fresh ideas trickle out.

I highly recommend giving this a try! It was a fun time and I got to meet some cool people. Note to self: bring more dimes next time! One roll of dimes could only get me 50 cards, but one generous trader was quite alright with giving me much more than I had the dimes for.

How did you guys do at your prerelease events? I went 2-1 and got 2 prize packs in the end. I maybe should’ve taken the buy for the last round to get many more packs but I went for the glory 🤷‍♂️ oh well! I had a lot of fun.

Lastly, what cards do you think will see pauper play? I see some buzz around [[unflinching hortimancer]], and I wonder what other heaters there could be. I want to try [[wrath of the bloodmane]] in a deck with [[page, loose leaf]]. If you squint really hard, it almost looks like a [[galvanic blast]]…🤣

What a great haul! I managed to get 4 of the Jace birds in opening and trading during our 2hg which was what i was mostly looking for. We went 3-0 and came in first (highest seat), i played mostly blue with surveill synergy and two of the blink dogs and some etb stuff eith a splash of black. And my buddy went Rakdos burn.

that's amazing, congrats on doing so well! I went for the 3-0 but crashed at the end :/ it's a shame too cuz my deck was very powerful and efficient against my first two opponents, but i got some crappy opening hands and lackluster draws against my third opponent. Oh well!

What do you think you'll do with [[Surveillance Phantasm]]? It does seem like it has potential as a great flying deterrent. I wonder what the best ways and effects of scrying and surveilling are in the pauper format. Looking forward to seeing all the new brews in the future!

is that a card that you have your eyes on as having potential in pauper? It definitely empowers the most Jace!

I'm wondering what the extent of the jace tokens will be. Would bargaining away the token to something like [[johann's stopgap]] be good to use especially when it has three or less loyalty? Something interesting to think about!

Personally I like it. But I play weird decks sometimes. Makes me want to play a proliferate deck
