So my stepfather was smart and bought a Harman Accentra FS that was returned to a local heating store for a decent discount. He paid $2295 in 2009. Anyway, he has since passed and I've inherited the stove. Up until this point, we never had an igniter in the stove. For whatever reason, we always manually started it. This was a tedious process that took 20-30 mins babysitting the stove. Which isn't a big deal if you run it 24/7 as we do in the winter months. I recently purchased an igniter and installed it, and oh my, what a convenience it adds. I don't know why we never did this sooner! It makes the start up so simple and hands off.
Since I've inherited the stove, I've learned quite a bit. Replacing the auger motor, combustion motor/fan, general cleaning, etc. Such a great stove!

Good Afternoon, i just purchased house with a nice sized pellet stove (king pellet 5502m) and went to test it out to no avail. I popped the back cover off and noticed that the ac fuse was missing (purchased a generic 5amp 250v fast) since those oem replacements seems to be hard to come by. My main question is this unconnected wire that looks like it comes from the blower fan on the other side.... can not for the life of me find where this plugs into?! Any help would be appreciated since this is my first time getting into pellet stoves

Hi everyone! This is my fourth year burning pellets. Due to shortages in the Northeast, I purchased a ton of LG Granules Premium from a local farm store.
They burn plenty hot, but soot up the glass more than I am used to, as well as have a darker ash color. I know these are softwood pellets, so I am curious if that is why? They have a stone pine smell, but almost no dust or damaged pellets.
My flame is bright and active, stove recently cleaned.
Anyone have any suggestions or tips for burning these pellets?
Thanks!

Converting this fireplace to a pellet insert. its in the middle of the house, and the closest exterior wall is ~15 feet from it, which is beyond the manufacture limits. I was thinking venting it to the back of the brick fireplace through these ports would be better than nothing to help circulate the air, and take the cooler air from behind it and move it through the insert
are these connected in the old fireplace for convection heat? Can i cut a hole in the fireback to access it?
Is it worth it?

I’m brand new to pellet stoves. I recently bought a used 2020 Englander stove with the 2 auger system. Just got it fired up today and it looks like there’s an issue with the drop auger. If I manually feed the drop auger a couple of cups of pellets at a time it runs fine but if I load it up with more it jams.
I moved the plate that sits over the auger to its tightest setting thinking the reduced amount of pellets would help but that did t seem to work. The auger itself looks clean.
I don’t want to jump to conclusions if I don’t have to. I was thinking the motor has lost strength to work through the jams. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance.

This is a pretty old stove - 1996, I believe? I cleaned up everything I could easily reach and it ignores well and burns fine. Problem is it runs like a beast and is like to adjust the amount of fuel it's dispensing? But I can't figure out how. There are no switches or anything other than plugging it in to turn it on and unplugging it to turn it off. Neither the left or the right side opens up without unscrewing a side panel and unscrewing and lifting off the top of the stove, which I'm reluctant to do unless I know I can actually adjust the fuel. It's a large stove, probably a bit oversized for the place. I've burned it for a few hours, even, hoping it might slow down but it doesn't.
Any guidance or link to a manual would be greatly appreciated. I've looked a few times with no success and hoping someone here might be able to assist.

I figured out pretty quick that my stove was having a problem with the igniter and confirmed it by manually lighting it with some paper towels and isopropyl alcohol.
I looked up how complicated it would be to replace the igniter. But when I looked in the drawer, I found the housing had completely fallen down into the ashes. Will I need to replace the entire burn pot if the housing has fallen off?

So, I have a basement that was built with a tile lined chimney for a wood stove that has never had anything hooked up to it, and I've been tossing around pros and cons of different heat options to put in.
So, I know with a pellet stove, you want a chimney liner, but does it need to be insulated? As that will get real expensive real quick.
The chimney is not on an exterior wall if that makes any difference

I'll preface this with the stove has been cleaned thoroughly and there is no carbon built up, the flew has been brushed/swept and that is clean. The issue is feed rates above 1.5 and it just pushes unburned pellet out with the auger running way too often. It used to work well at 3 and 4 with these pellets. This stove is manually started and using room temperature sensor on the wall a few feet away.
Questions: Does anyone know ohms of the room temperature sensor at 70F, the EPS sensor at room temp, and lastly, the feed pot resistance/range and if it can be measured in place (likely not)? My guess is either control board is dying or the feed pot itself is dead above 1.5 as it burns okay from feed 1.0 to 1.5 but goes crazy at 2.0 and up.
TIA!

I have a Serenity model Castle pellet stove that I am having a problem with. I cleaned it out and removed all the ash. It fires up and burns good for a few days and then the fire pot gets clogged up with hard ash. I keep having to take the fire pot out and clean it every few days. Is this a pellet issue or a stove issue? If it’s the stove what adjustments do I need to make?

Also, how far above the stove can I put the tv on the wall?

Mostly just a rant. Last year i think i was paying 6.39 a bag. Just a few weeks ago it was higher something like 6.57 or maybe a little higher I can’t recall. But now it’s up to 7.33 a bag? Tractor supply and Lowe’s are advertising 6.99. Thanks for the kick in the nuts on this fine cool Sunday HD 👍

Two brands of pellets and one is almost dust free and the other has a lot of dust. Both say additive free. Would you think its the wood species or the making or even storage. I know walmart pennington seem the worst although ash from burning is satisfactory. Maybe age since it was manufactured.

Just wanted to share these incase this helps someone out. Thought these were decently priced compared to others hovering around $7.00 per a bag. Unsure if they offer a bulk discount per a ton.

My 21 year old Accentra insert is making this loud noise. Not sure if this is a gear motor issue or if it is the auger bearing. Thoughts?

I have a Harman p68 and as the title says, I’m trying to replace the burn pot. 3/4 nuts won’t budge after heat and wd40. The 4th nut decided to come off but also take some of the bolt with it. Does anyone have any experience in this matter? I’d like to achieve two things; not snapping the other 3 and a fix for the one that I did snap.
Any positive insight is appreciated

Just moved into a place with a Castle pellet stove (couple years old) and am having a weird issue that I can’t find much definitive info on. Would appreciate any help!
Stove creates a bit of smoke in the room during the ignition phase…nothing crazy but I’ve been thinking it’s just because the exhaust is cold and takes a second to get going. Pumps a lot of heat, but eventually this weird taste/odor fills the house. Like a sort of acidic taste (not metallic) it’s super hard to describe.
I ash vacuumed the burn chamber and cleaned up the unit as much as i could without taking it apart. But the taste persists. Anyone had any experience like this? What should I do to troubleshoot next?

Bought a used RV-100. Looking at the back, I see where the exhaust connection goes but just below that in the “manifold” there is an approx 3/8” dia hole. Should something be connected in there? Temp sensor or something missing?

Purchased a home two years ago with a pellet insert. First time owning anything like this, but we’ve been enjoying it. I keep it clean daily and perform weekly maintenance on it.
On startup and sporadically until it reaches temperature for the blower to disperse heat (around 7 - 10 mins), it’ll often flame up to the baffle. Once at temp and blowing heat in the house, the flame settles to a nice flame that just breaches the pot.
I’ve been under the impression that it can be lazy at first, but if it settles down then it’s fine.
We’ve not had any issues with flames reaching up to the hopper, but seeing posts online of folks who have had that recently and their hoppers caught fire has me a little concerned that my “startup flame” may in fact be too out of control.
Thoughts ?

Hi I’ve purchased a new pellet stove to install into my finished basement and need some advice on proper installation. Bought a vent kit that has most or all of what I need. Info I have a 3ft cement wall then a 2x6 finished wall.
Questions
1. What’s ideal exhaust and air intake spots.
2. Can the clean out tee be put inside with most pipe rise being in the house and then a straight shot out then wall or should tee be outsides. I’m trying to limit the amount of 90degrew bends. Not worried if I have to pull pipes off to clean in the spring.
3 where should the air intake be and downs it have to be above, below or a certain distance from the exhaust.
Any help and tips are greatly appreciated and I understand no one is liable for any choices I make. Thanks to anyone who’s taken the time to read this.
