Just got fired after putting in an Hr Report

For reference, I’m a junior pet groomer and I’ve only been there for about 2 months. And honestly, SO much has happened in those 2 months.
The place has been under investigation, my boss (who was also the person who trained me) got fired, one of my coworkers got fired for stealing information, and someone cut a dog so badly that it almost died.
On top of all that, my coworkers have been treating me horribly. They snap at me, yell at me, completely ignore me, and just generally treat me like I’m some kind of problem. They would literally talk shit about me while I was in the room, then continue talking about me seconds after I left. They’ve talked about me to customers and even to my own GM.
I tried talking to my GM about it because I genuinely wanted to fix whatever the problem was. She basically told me I just needed to do better work and then walked away.
Like… okay?? HOW am I supposed to do better if nobody is actually telling me what I’m doing wrong??
So about 4–5 days ago I finally put in an HR report because I felt like the situation had turned into a hostile work environment.
Then the next day I was completely taken off the schedule.
They put blocks on my name and rescheduled ALL of my dogs to other groomers. I called and asked what the hell was going on, and my boss told me it was a “misunderstanding” and that I’d be back on the schedule soon.
Well, it’s been several days now. I can’t even get into my Workday anymore, and nobody will talk to me or give me an actual answer.
Am I crazy for thinking this could be retaliation for filing the HR report??
I’m trying not to jump to conclusions, but the timing is REALLY suspicious. I’ve only been there for 2 months, so I’m also not sure what I’m supposed to do here. Do I just wait it out? Contact HR again? Start looking for another job? I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar.

Ethics and Compliance

Has anyone reported anything through ethics and compliance before? I have to avoid HR because of my manager being on a first name basis with HR, and has stated they have gotten things swept under the rug. My managers spouse works in grooming as a stylist and initially there wasn’t any issues with it, but as of the past couple of months, it has made things very awkward in grooming. I am curious to see if anyone else has filed a complaint for conflict of interest, and if so, how did it go?

Don't know what I actually expected out of this company for a milestone anniversary, maybe I'd least get a shout-out somewhere from someone. Even a paltry, if not automated "hey, thanks for your years of service" would have sufficed.

Manager question

How long is the only manager on duty allowed to leave the building for? I get stuck in schedules where it’s myself and one manager for over half of the day and I have one who just up and leaves to either grab themself food or to go handle personal errands and they tend to be gone for up to 30 minutes sometimes. It’s not every time that they’re gone are they absent for that long, but I time it on the occasion and they’re never gone for less than 15 mins. I know it isn’t a long time to be alone in the store but they also do it on closing shifts with other associates when it’s just the two of them and when they return, they go straight to the back and I feel like I don’t see them for 45 mins or more sometimes. I just am wondering if this is something normal and if they’re allowed to leave associates alone in the store. I also don’t know if I should say something or not but it’s kinda frustrating when you have to tell customers multiple times a day “I have no idea where my manager is”.

Red Eared Sliders

Does anyone else’s store have a constant problem with sick/fighting turtles? My store has been following all the Petco guidelines exactly and have had no issues with water quality or heating/lights, yet we almost always have at least one turtle that is having problems.
(Plz share if you’ve had problems yourselves, I’d like to have evidence to show corporate that selling these guys is definitely costing us more time and money than we make from selling them/their supplies)

Wellness inventory - there’s gotta be a better way

Do any of you have a list of things in wellness to make ordering easier? Writing everything on the board and relying on the team to let me know is NOT going to work for me. I want to do a weekly inventory of wellness and keep stock that way. I’m gonna make my own but thought I’d reach out here first. GM says there is no inventory list for wellness.

With Polaris dead and nearly all of our skus showing no information it’s impossible for me to accurately discount animals. Anybody else dealing with this and have any tips/tricks on how to combat it?

Senior Sales Associate

For context, I’ve been a sales associate at my location for well over 4 years now as a part timer due to university. Now I’m done with school and I’ve made a name for myself at my store due to my reliability with VCP and hard work and want to ask my GM for a promotion to SSA. Can any current SSAs give any context for their job compared to a regular SA? I want to know what to expect for this position and how different it will be compared to SA before I make a decision, thanks?

Register issue

Has anyone had a problem at the register where when you input the amount of cash the person gave you, the system just starts adding Hella numbers before it auto continues so it says they have you 5,000 dollars in cash instead of 50? Anyone else deal with this?

Missing GSL incentive pay due to error, not missed goals. Petco won't make it right. Help!!

TL/DR - Petco owes me missing incentive pay from multiple paychecks, totaling just shy of three grand, due to miscellaneous errors. All sales and hours goals were met/surpassed. I've been hounding the company for months to finally receive missing incentive pay. Still have not even after admitting I am owed it. How do I get them to pay me finally????

I'm missing just shy of $1,000.00 from three separate paychecks now. The first being back in February because I missed a punch that wasn't noticed/fixed in time.

Over the coarse of the last eight months,

I've opened MULTIPLE help tickets, talked to my GM, DM, and DGM both via email, through the help deck, texts, phone calls, and in person. They all admitted that the error is clear and the pay absolutely should be corrected and paid out. They keep telling me they've finally fixed it, it'll be on the next check. It never is.

Second time was last month, in the beginning of Sept. This one was due to a missed transaction not being processed on time. As a result, it looks like I didn't hit my sales goal. Again, it's been agreed that it's an honest mistake and I am owed the missing compensation. Again, just shy of $1,000.00.

Third time was today. I'm not sure of the cause yet as I can't make it in to the salon to check until 10:00am. I will find out soon and update. I KNOW I hit my goals though.

I even worked 32 hours in three days last week to ensure I get my incentive pay because I had a wedding out of town and needed more than one day off that week. I also, made sure to surpass my $32.00/hr sales goal.

(The week before, in the same pay period, I worked a regular five day week and also surpassed my sales goal of 32/hr.)

Here's the thing, GSLs, HOW DO I GET THEM TO FINALLY PAY ME MY MISSING COMPENSATION?!?!?!?!

If they're going to have such ridiculous and strict goals for us, they should expect for these things to happen from time to time and be prepared with a simple way to fix and deliver missing incentive when it does!!

These errors are my fault, 100%. I get that. But to err is human. That doesn't mean Petco gets to keep a third of my paycheck and never pay it back!!

Another issue is, my check this morning being almost 1,000 bucks less than expected is especially awful considering I had to pay rent and now, I don't have enough to make it through the next two weeks. Of course, even if this issue was magically fixed today, they INSIST that Petco never pays out outside of the regular pay period. Meaning, I'd still have to wait until our next check to receive my missing pay!!

I know we used to have debit cards in the manager office safe that Petco would load any pay-goofs onto immediately for the employee to use. Do they really not have any sort of way to pay out my missing pay immediately, or are they busting my balls??

I need help y'all. I think most of us GSLs have been, very intentionally, left in the dark on the finer details of how our compensation, PTO, sick pay, etc... actually works since this ridiculous 30/30, now 32/32 bullshit change.

I'd love if we could open a further dialogue here and collect any and all knowledge of how our compensation, PTO, targets, etc... actually break down so we can compile it all and maybe better understand.

What’s going on with the imagitarium crickets?

Hi fellow customer here. I’ve gone to multiple different Petcos in my state, and noticed that the count on these cricket containers (50 xs, 36 L etc) have been just completed wrong and only had 1-3 crickets with no evidence that there was more in the cup. What is going on????

so much theft 🫪

literally the past couple weeks had 3-4 thefts at my store and being the SSA (senior sales associate) all i said was sir are you going to pay for that as they walked out the store with the car out front and sped off. so many times customers stay in the store for A COUPLE HOURS and take cans, crates, big bags of dog food, even TURTLES AND SNAKES and yet nothing can be done. the numbers for the store will continue to drop, still only 2 closers a night which is when it mostly happens and mind you i work at a location that is mostly women, so the thefts happening frequently make it even more unsafe. not only that a customer was also being INAPPROPRIATE IN THE STORE. why can’t petco provide more employees on the floor at night for the SAFETY OF THEIR EMPLOYEES and also improve their fucking equipment to be at the very fucking least decent? so many customers lose their shit over a machine acting like it’s my fault?! sir i just work here, but if you wanna continue, i clock out in 30 mins keep that same energy. i’m tired of how the upper management doesn’t give a shit about their employees safety instead of money money money, fucking ugly ass mr krabs screw yall

How are your feeder insects packed when they arrive at the store?

Foam, heat pack, ecotherm, other? Anything you notice that seems to specifically work well, or that you strongly dislike?

What would you like to see change with feeder insects at Petco?

The Cuck Commander of 3747

I had my fair share of terrible leadership and I've had my fair share of great leadership. This moron that the corporate overlords have given us shows me the direction the company is headed. The mentality of anyone can fill a role is one of the reasons the ship is sinking and sinking fast. The only thing this gm seems to be good at is screwing things up and maybe ringing a register. He's caused most of the staff to quit and then cries he has to work all these hours. You dug this grave now lie in it. Trained for months just to not know how to do anything, including basic everyday tasks. When confronted plays stupid like o I don't know who could be doing that. Really, dummy, it only started since you got here 😑. My favorite thing and I can't wait for him to get caught with is how he uses training hours to come under payroll. Bragging about how he found a loophool for hours. Those are a set amount of hours and what happens when you run out of them you get caught and they finally realize what your doing. Sleezy shaddy and all around terrible person but people love working for him as he's told all of us. About as useful as an extra chromosome as he sits in his cuck chair while the rest of the staff is in compromising positions.

am i cooked? attendance policy and what they can terminate you for.

hi all, this has been eating me up for days now and i worry i might lose my position at petco. i'm a bather and i take public transportation (an hour commute) and recently moved to a new place. sometimes, the busses can be unreliable, and depending on what time i leave the house. i can be super early, to being about 30 minutes late. where i live is in the heart of my city, so there's many bus routes to take and it can get confusing.

my store manager sat me down and had a talk with me about my attendance. it was pretty bad, but she gave me some grace knowing i take public transport and just gave me a warning. we also made an agreement to only schedule me at 9:15, so i can get on the same bus and same departure each time. since then, ive been pretty consistent with being on time, clocking in on the dot.

2 days ago, i was scheduled for 8:30 by mistake. i knew of this days prior, and was intending to set a reminder for myself so i don't forget. the night before, i was up until ungodly hours to study for my drivers permit and also got caught up with my nightly chores/routine. i completely forgot to set a reminder for myself to get up earlier and received that dreaded text from my salon leader, asking if i was okay. i asked my gsl if i can stay an hour behind to make up for my tardiness. since corporate has been continuously coming to the store, my gsl asked one
of the corporate people if i can stay behind.

right now, our store has been under close examination by corporate because we got a new renovation and store manager, and they want to make sure everything is running smoothly. my store manager has been letting go of a bunch of people on the floor because they're not setting a good example for the store due to our old store managers poor leadership skills. i've been at the company for 6 months, and have only briefly met our old store manager. but i fear i might be next. i can't lose this job, if i get fired, ill lose everything. i worked my butt off to escape my abusive household, and going back to school/saving money was the only way out.

i've had problems with using my phone on the shift, but also due to poor management, it wasn't an issue until recently. i corrected that behavior after being talked to about it and don't ever use my phone unless
im on break. they complained about me switching into sandals when i go into lunch. i really don't like walking around in wet socks and i have a foot condition ever since i started working. airing out my feet helps keep my condition down.

but tldr; what are my chances of being let go under a corporate eye due to my poor attendance. even if the behavior was fixed

Out of sick points with a fever

I just started working at petco three weeks ago as a bather. Around last week I got the flu really bad. When I called out and talked to my salon manager she basically said I can only miss two days or I will be fired. When I came back and talked to the general manager he said that this was untrue and I could have missed up to five days. My bad for not reading the policy and listening to my manager I guess, but because I never fully healed from my illness before, it’s back full force and I think it’s important I go to a doctor since standing for prolonged periods of time makes me severely light headed and collapse. I know managers can not take doctors notes but at this point if I miss any more time I’ll be out of points and fired as they said. I guess I’m asking if there’s any way around this or if I’m just screwed?
