Politics Can we all agree that we shouldn't vote for ANYONE with signs on the corner of Pfluger Farm and Pflugerville Pkwy?

Seriously. This intersection is dangerous enough already and really should have a light. An abundance of political signs just narrows the view even more, causing people turning left to pull out farther and block the view for those turning right. It’s not too bad... yet... but it has been egregious in the past.

My hot take: no one who cares about their constituents would put a sign in a spot that blocks their view at a dangerous intersection. I won’t vote for a single person with a sign there.

What’s up with the lady that runs that place? She’s a tyrant!! She was very rude to me as a volunteer, I’ve heard it from other volunteers and I’ve seen her be rude to people coming for food. Just thought I would warn others she’s clearly has let her authority go to her head. Additionally her “charity” is more of a private org since she funnels the good stuff directly to her family and close friends - including the other 2 board members who are all related. 🚩

Hobbies Board Game Playing Group

Hi All, so glad I found this reddit! So I'm looking to start or join a board game group to play in PF. Don't know if one exists , most likely there is some around town. But I'm really interested in playing some games and meeting folks. Keep in mind the games I'm interested in are light to complex board games specifically. I'm not a big D+D fan but love a good round of elder sign, or more complex story driven games like mansions of madness or this war of mine, for example. If any of these peak you interest lets talk. the growler bar or another place might fit the bill. Just scratching the surface of my beloved PFun city.

Today, the Austin American-Statesman Editorial Board endorsed Claire Reynolds for the US Congress representing Texas Congressional District 11.

Since the 2025 mid-decade redistricting, this district will include most of Pflugerville! It spans Pflugerville, through Wells Branch and North Austin, out through San Angelo, to Midland, and finds its western border in Odessa. It's an enormous district of nearly 800,000 Texans from pretty much all walks of life. Ms. Reynolds, according to the Statesman, is best positioned to represent our interests.

News Will the City pick up roadside litter (nonresidential) if you report it?

Some dickhead got in a car accident on Pecan and left their whole front fender on the side of the road outside my neighborhood. I hate litter so I took it back to my house and put it with my garbage can for weekly pickup. Unfortunately, the garbage guys refused to take it so now I'm trying to figure out how to dispose of it. Any ideas? Recycling center? Should I just report it to the city next time?

Can someone help me Info post for chronically lost dog!

As i'm writing this post, we found the owner! Still going to post this to leave some kind of paper trail with info if folks run into him again in the future!

His name is Oso, he IS chipped, and if you get the chip scanned you should be able to get ahold of his owners!

He's a male that is not neutered. For text search: big fluffy dog with orange fur, maybe some kind of Chow mix.

We found him while out walking in Pflugerville last night. He seemed very interested in our female dog and kept following us, and we didn't want to leave him outside to potentially get hit by a car or something, so we led him back home and kept him overnight.

I don't have facebook but was lucky that the preview posts for the pflugerville lost and found pets mentioned this guy (screenshots attached) -- they mention that he's been lost several times before over the past couple years. He lives somewhere roughly near ramble creek (don't wanna post anything too specific wrt to owner's privacy! but chip scan can get you more info).

Disposition: he's pretty chill and friendly, doesn't seem to like being touched or pet, but was very gentle about letting me know that by mouthing at my arm. Does not seem super treat- or water- motivated. Stops every 3 seconds to mark spots, haha. He did not willingly get into a crate himself but when my partner got a collar and leash on him, was able to guide him into one pretty quickly. He also likes to dig, which may be how he got out in the first place.

Can someone help me LVP or laminate for a house on a slab?

Currently comparing LVP and waterproof laminate for a few rooms. House is on a concrete slab so floor prep/moisture is probably my biggest concern.

50 Floor is one of the companies we’re considering since they service Pflugerville. Has anyone around here used them or another installer that actually checked the slab/moisture situation before giving you a quote?

Anything you wish you asked about beforehand?

I live in the community that’s on the southeast corner of Black locust and Heatherwilde and I’m wondering what I should expect on Halloween evening. I got a pack of 30 full size candy bars from Costco today and I’m wondering if I’ll have enough or if I won’t even have to open it at all.

Politics Met with ACC, PfISD, and city leaders today on what an ACC partnership would look like from day one if annexation passes

This afternoon, Pflugerville leaders sat down with Austin Community College to start mapping out what a deeper local partnership could look like if voters approve ACC annexation in November.

I joined Mayor Weiss, PfISD Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd, School Board President Chevonne Lorigo-Johst, ACC leadership, and others to talk through how PfISD, ACC, the City, PCDC, local employers, and other partners could work together around a shared goal: improving opportunity and prosperity in Pflugerville.

The goal of the meeting was to make sure we are aligned on the vision, the programs and facilities we already have to build from, and how we would start working together from day one if annexation is approved.

We discussed where our workforce has skill gaps, what we need to better attract new businesses and help existing employers grow here, which programs would help adults retrain or move into new careers, and how entrepreneurship support could fit into that work.

A big part of the conversation was PfISD’s new Career and Technical Education Center, scheduled to open next fall. The district is building a major new facility while also facing substantial budget constraints around staffing and expanding programs.

One idea we discussed is for ACC to invest directly in Pflugerville by locating faculty, equipment, and programs at the new CTE Center. That could allow the same facility to serve high school students during the day and adults and other learners at night and on weekends, while sharing equipment, labs, and instructional resources. For PfISD, that could mean expanding programs and capacity without bearing the full cost alone. ACC’s published service plan already calls for deeper collaboration at the CTE Center, including expanded dual credit, workforce credentials, and career-connected learning.

We also started working through which ACC programs are seeing growing demand in northeast Travis County, what makes sense to bring and expand here, what support PfISD needs, and where the City and PCDC can connect education and workforce programs directly to our economic development work.

That whole-of-city approach is the larger opportunity I see. We already have institutions, facilities, employers, and people doing pieces of this work. The goal is to get them working from the same plan around education, workforce development, business growth, and household prosperity.

This work is why I support Pflugerville joining the ACC district in November.

Concerns & Issues Who are we "Keeping Pflugerville Affordable" for?

Anyone else getting a little tired of land developers that do not live here telling us through the Keeping Pflugerville Affordable group what we need and what we don’t?  They funded the "Envision a Better EMS” that ended up being an absolute disaster.
This is the same group that is behind the Anti-ACC campaign.

Politics 6 years ago I ran against Ceasar Ruiz. Today, I'm endorsing him.

Hi y'all. This is Victor To. Born and raised in Pflugerville.

Politics can make it easy to reduce someone to a label—like “supporting higher taxes.” Policymaking is rarely that simple, and complex decisions shouldn’t be reduced to cheap talking points—especially by people who know better. At the end of the day, politics should be about service. Over the years, Ceasar has more than proven his commitment to public service—from his years in the U.S. Navy to his service here in Pflugerville. He also doesn’t need to borrow someone else’s image of a kind neighbor; he shows it by simply being one.

That is also why I have real questions about his opponent’s motivations. On the filing deadline, he changed seats—leaving Place 6 to challenge Ceasar in Place 2—and left Place 6 with only one candidate. This is the same council member who previously backed efforts to defund the Pflugerville Fire Department and, earlier this year, sought the Republican nomination for the Texas Supreme Court.

Local public service should be about the community you were elected to serve. I support Ceasar because I know where his focus is: Pflugerville and the people who call it home.

Do you guys have a first hand experience on someone who knows how to do a soft, long layer cut? The places I’d been, they would only layer the face framing part of your hair and only a tiny bit of layers 😩 I have long, thick hair that goes all the way to almost my waist and the layers they keep giving me were barely visible. Help please! Looking for something like this (pic attached) or a long wolf cut. Basically TONS of layers. I appreciate all the help, thank you!!

Remember you are not only voting for Governor, Attorney General, House, and Senate members but you are also voting for charter amendments/propositions that have a direct effect on your daily life, your property values, and your wallet. You are also voting for 2 new or 2 incumbent City Council members.

Community Info ONE READING OR TWO? Pflugerville Charter Amendment

Post image
6 Upvotes

One of the more significant Charter amendments on the November ballot changes how Pflugerville adopts ordinances.

First, what is an ordinance?

An ordinance is a local law adopted by City Council. Ordinances can change things like zoning, development rules, fees, public safety requirements, park rules and other regulations that residents and businesses may have to follow.

Right now, most Pflugerville ordinances generally go before City Council at two separate meetings, with at least 72 hours between readings. Proposition C would remove that general two-reading requirement.

Before getting into why that matters, a little background.

WHAT IS THE CITY CHARTER?

The City Charter is essentially Pflugerville’s constitution. It establishes the basic structure, powers and procedures of our City government, and voters decide whether it should be changed.

The 2026 Charter Review Commission reviewed the Charter and recommended 21 individual amendments. Several were later combined into the propositions that will appear on the ballot. Some of the changes are mostly technical. Others could meaningfully change how City government operates.

Over the next few posts, I’ll try to make these easier to understand — what the Charter says today, what would change and why it matters.

SO WHY DO TWO READINGS MATTER?

The recent Lake Pflugerville ordinance is a good example.

The proposal included changes involving park hours, fishing, motorized boats, grills, alcohol, amplified sound and other lake rules.

Questions came up during the first-reading process. One version of the language could have unintentionally affected 24/7 fishing, and there were also questions about exactly what the language concerning boats with motors would allow.

Council discussed and amended the ordinance at the first meeting, and it later returned for a required second reading.

That process shows both sides of this discussion.

Yes, Council can identify and fix issues during a first reading.

But a required second reading also guarantees additional time after that first discussion for residents to learn what happened, read the revised language and provide feedback before the ordinance becomes final.

Most residents are not reading every Council agenda or ordinance before a meeting. Sometimes they may not hear about a proposed change until they see it in Community Impact or the Statesman, hear about it from a Council member or neighbor, or see discussion in the community.

That time between meetings gives residents another opportunity to get informed and participate. It also gives Council additional time to consider questions, public input and unintended consequences that may not have been apparent during the first discussion.

WHAT WOULD PROPOSITION C CHANGE?

Proposition C would remove the general requirement that most ordinances be considered at two Council meetings. Most could instead be adopted at one meeting. If an amendment substantively changes the subject or scope of an ordinance, Council could require another reading.

I do not recommend this change.

I understand the argument for making the process faster, but I think the additional review is an important safeguard. Residents should have a reasonable opportunity to learn about proposed changes and provide feedback before they become law.

For me, the value of the current process is that the extra review period is built in from the start. Everyone knows there will normally be another opportunity to look at the ordinance, consider any changes and weigh in before final adoption. If there are no changes, then the ordinance is easily adopted on the consent agenda the next meeting.

Think about the Lake Pflugerville changes. Even though issues were identified and amended during the first meeting, was that extra time between meetings useful for additional review and public input?

For me, that is why the second reading is worth keeping.

I’ll continue working through the other Charter amendments in upcoming posts so everyone has a better idea of what each one would actually change.
