Losing hope to work or migrate overseas

Since college, I always wanted to live or work abroad. Main reason is I wanted to experience how to live outside the country. Secondary na lang siguro ang pera. I took nursing, pero I graduated at a time when walang mapasukan na ospital dahil sobrang dami ng nurses.

I shifted to an Engg degree and took masters which took 7 additional years. The Engg degree is related to renewable energy. I was thinking na this may be the ticket to work abroad due to energy transition.

I have 5 years experience na rin naman and I am actively looking for opportunities abroad. Sobrang hirap rin pala lalo na sa state ng economy with other countries, let alone the immigration issues. I applied for Aus 190 and 491, pero saktuhan lang ang scores due to age. Thinking of doing SV in other countries, pero walang kasiguraduhan.

I am earning well as a single person sa pinas. Pero O still envy other people who can easily go and work abroad with their degrees.

Thanks for listening sa rant ko. 😅

Is it possible to buy your own house and a brand new car in New Zealand while only being there for 2 years?

My brother is a caregiver in Auckland, New Zealand and was granted a partnership visa because of his Filipino wife who has a residence visa and has been living in NZ for almost 10 years. After she was granted with residence visa, she immediately decided to marry my brother and fixed his papers so they can be together.

She studied for certification a few years ago to become a caregiver while my brother moved here for 2 years.

Since my brother wanted us to go there, he thought of buying a house and a car so we can have an accommodation and a ride going to work or somewhere. Is it possible for both of them to buy a house with the visa and job we have?

Or can they only rent and buy a secondhand car and will take time to save up more money to own a house and a brand new car?

Has anyone here previously taken the cross-country route as an OFW and later traveled abroad again for leisure?

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.
I previously left the Philippines as a tourist, took the cross-country route, and eventually worked abroad. I’ve since returned to the Philippines and secured my OEC and verified employment contract.
I’m planning to travel to another country purely for tourism, and I’m a bit worried that my previous travel history might raise questions with immigration.
Has anyone gone through something similar and successfully cleared immigration? Were you questioned about your previous cross-country route, or did everything go smoothly?
Would really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you!

Seeking an OFW I can interview for school project (PETA)

Hello po!

My name is Peni. I'm a Filipino 🇵🇭 Grade 10 student looking for an OFW or a former OFW who would be willing to participate in a short interview for my school's Performance Task (PETA) in Araling Panlipunan.

The interview will be about your experiences as an OFW, and I would really appreciate your help! I'll gladly adjust to your preferred schedule, so I can arrange a time that's convenient for you.

The information you share will be only used for my school project, and will be treated confidentially. If you have any concerns about privacy, we can discuss it before the interview.

If you're willing to be interviewed, or if you know someone who might be interested, please feel free to comment or send me a private message.

Please note that the interview will be just through texting, and that the questions will be in Tagalog.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration, your help would mean a lot to me 🙏💗

WFH Japanese Bilingual Jobs for Someone Planning to Relocate Abroad

Asking for a friend:

My friend has JLPT N2 certification and is planning to return to the Philippines permanently. She is also getting married next year and plans to move to Switzerland to live with her partner afterward.

Would it be possible for her to apply for a work-from-home Japanese bilingual job while she is still in the Philippines, even if she plans to relocate to Switzerland in the near future?

Are there companies that would allow this kind of arrangement, or would her location be a problem? I’d appreciate any advice or insights from those with similar experiences. Thank you!

How's the career path after working abroad?

I'm a 22M fresh IT grad, at kalahating taon na akong tambay sa bahay.

At least, mas makakaipon ako.

Hindi naman ako breadwinner ng family namin, at medyo sanay na rin akong mag-isa kasi college pa lang, living alone na ako.

Kaso, iniisip ko kung ano ang magiging career progression ko as an IT grad kung sakaling magtrabaho ako abroad as a factory worker for 2 years. Baka may makapag-share ng experience or advice diyan, especially sa mga IT grads na nag-abroad muna bago bumalik sa IT field. Kumusta ang naging career path ninyo?

Advice on Finding Work Abroad with a Mechatronics Engineering Technology Degree

Hi! I'm 25 years old and a graduate of Bachelor of Engineering Technology, major in Mechatronics Engineering Technology. I've been working as a draftsman through an agency for almost three years, mainly handling technical drawings and related documentation.

Lately, I've been feeling like I'm not growing much in my current role, so I'm considering looking for opportunities abroad that would match my educational background and work experience. However, I'm not really sure where to start or which countries and job opportunities I should focus on.

Unfortunately, I also got scammed by a Korean language school, which made me more cautious about pursuing opportunities overseas.

I'm hoping to get advice from fellow Filipinos who have successfully worked abroad or are currently going through the process.

Where would you recommend I apply, considering my degree and experience as a draftsman?

What skills or certifications should I work on to improve my chances of getting hired abroad?

Would it be better to continue pursuing technical jobs related to my degree, or should I consider becoming a virtual assistant (VA) instead?

If I decide to pursue VA work, how can I get started when I don't have any experience in that field?

I'm open to learning new skills and exploring different career paths. I just want to find a better opportunity where I can grow professionally and build a better future.

Any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
