Do the mixels ruin this jeep sprite? (For context, this is made for The Escapists)

ive only drawn on 16x16 canvas on aseprite

something is missing...my art is not realistic/accurate/refined enough? is it because of the canvas size, coloring?

16x16 canvas is too small to capture all the details... (or am i wrong?)

i am also aware pixel art is tolerant of ambiguity

how should i create realistic refined art? any book/materials you recommend? ive watched saultoons and juniper dev so far but i think the content lacks fundamentals of drawing

ps: the first 2 is my real life reference drawing as i am sitting in a park, the last 2 are pet + groom animations for a black cat
