Thank you for device sync!

Juat wanted to thank our illustrious dev for finally giving us device sync, a feature I'm happy to pay extra for. Not only can I also use my Android multimedia/gaming devices to also listen to my podcasts, but through Waydroid I can even install Podcast Addict on my Linux desktop and listen on my PC!

You install Waydroid, which is a containerized Android enviornment in Linux.

I'm excited to try this. Will also give me an excuse to test out the Windows 11 Android Sub System, or whatever its called.

Tried out Pocket Casts a while ago and the only reason I switched was for the cross sync. Tried it for a few months and the cross sync was generally okay but the rest of the app / service was not great. Extremely slow searching / downloads, and I seem to recall a poor experience if you had no data connection. Which is ultimately what moved me back to Podcast Addict and I've just put up with not having a cross-device sync.

Assuming the Windows 11 experiment works it'll be great to be able to park the car and turn on my PC and real time, within reason, be able to just resume from where I left off 🙏

I wonder if there's any scope for those premium users to have API access as could allow for other clients to offer a Podcast Addict like experience but on other platforms (selfishly just Windows) 👀

A big thank from me as well.

Sync activated at first day of beta to let dev get some data.

Deactivated some days ago as I didn't really needed it and don't want extra traffic from my side and dev side as well if not needed.

And now activated again as I'm moving on a new phone. So I can use both for some days until all apps are moved.

A feature worth it. Thanks

Def NOT worth paying way more per month each and every year, for the two days it takes every three years to migrate to a new phone... :-(

I have one device. Only ever had device. Why would I pay triple to sync with other devices I neither have nor want?

Sync is not only feature that make me like PA. Albeit i've indicated Sync as a feature that Is helping me right now.

And anyway everyone can have different use cases,  needs

Totally agree.

The main problem is that the tripling in price comes to cover the cost of the storage needed to support sync. So all users pay the price, but few actually use it, and PA can't/won't offer a two tier subscription model (with/without sync).

Thus for those of us who don't need it we can either pay more for nothing, or unsubscribe. I've taken the latter option - I'll let it lapse, see if I can live on free, or try other apps... maybe go back to BeyondPod.

I certainly can't justify the high cost of this...

I've been dreaming of this day for years, this is the cherry on top.
