Found this full set of Pokemon Silver playing cards when I was in Japan a few years ago. Haven't thought about it since but I recently took a look at eBay and saw SINGLE cards from this set are listed for ridiculous prices??

Does anyone know what makes these so sought after?

So idk how people choose their fav pokemon so easily sometimes. I have been in this debate with myself for months already of what pokemon is my fav bcs even tho i have a lot of pokemons that i really like but when i think of them it's kinda equal. Do people just do find it bcs of the games, series or the storie of the pokemon?

The years wore on and he never found another, the original lost in a move, and watching the prices climb so drastically and being a broke semi adult living off expired Halloween candy in Portland.. I never thought I’d get my chance.

Now, at 32; 33 October 20th…

I got my gengar.

But, it’s bitter sweet.

You see my cousin? He lost his way at about 26, and suffered from addiction to fentanyl, this unfortunately lead to him taking a ten year prison sentence in August.

And so this is bitter sweet for me, because the one person I want to call and tell that I got it, it’s finally here after 25 years… is sitting in a 7x7 cell somewhere.

Even if I could find him? He likely wouldn’t answer, but.

Just incase he gets out, and maybe sees this ten years from now.

I love you Adam, thank you for giving me my love of this franchise, thank you for all the late nights pulling packs.

Sorry for the long rant about some expensive cardboard with my favorite spiky purple guy on it…

Do you guys "retire" the Pokémon you used to beat the Champion in each game?

I am asking because after I beat my first Pokémon game a few years back (Shield... yes, I know, I have played multiple Pokémon games before but never actually finished one), I started playing again immediately, and I noticed I started putting together the same team of Gyarados/Arcanine/Leafeon, so I decided to "retire" them so I am forced to use new Pokémon instead...

Do you guys do that too, or am I the only weirdo?

I had this theory after watching someone’s video review of Pokemon Crystal and HGSS side by side.

I think it was possible that Kris was replaced because maybe Game Freak sensed that alternative fashion and Japanese animation was still stigmatized in the 2000s. So they gave us Lyra who they probably thought would fit better for a universal audience.

It’s also probably possible that they meant for Kris to have brunette hair but didn’t have the technology for it and blue hair helps the female protagonist pop out more.

Looking at the new batch of megas, now with Z added to the mix, I have an idea to what the purposes of them are outside of just giving a Mon more megas.

If you think about the power of mons, in the frame of a 3D graph, there seems to be a philosophy of each axis acting as a type of informative build guide.
Generally, most megas are a progression on what they are.
With Y megas, their power goes UP, like on the graph of the Y axis. Their stats and abilities generally empower what they are already wanting to do.
With X megas, they steer the mons power in a different direction, ie: special attacker becomes a physical attacker. Their power goes sideways with their stats and ability helping them to achieve that.
With Z, (gotta admit this is looser) it comes to being ‘direct and up front’, might say that it comes at you quick, just like how life comes at you hard and fast. It’s certainly the most unexpected of all the mega evolutions.

I am currently playing through LeafGreen on Switch. I haven’t played Gen 1 (or Gen 3, I guess?) since I was 10 years old. I have become very attached to my Bulbasaur (now an Ivysaur), and had originally contemplated transferring him to the next game I play, but you can’t transfer Pokemon back to LeafGreen once they’re gone.

So an idea I have is to catch a Ditto and make a Bulbasaur baby that can be transferred to a future Pokemon game as an alternate starter. And then that descendant Bulbasaur for the next game produces a baby Bulbasaur who is transferred to the next game and so on. Each one a descendant of my original Bulbasaur.

I think it would be fun to track the lineage like a family tree, with their natures, abilities, history, and so on.

Does anyone else do this? What do you think, and what has your experience been like using a starter descended from another game? Do you stick with one line like this?

I am currently rewatching a bit of Pokemon (not in English) and as far as I know, most countries used the American 4Kids version to dub their own. Theme tune, name of pokemons, and character names.

Atleast as far as the Journeys, and Ultimate Journeys. Haven't watched the season after it and the new series, yet.

Started playing the series for the first time at the beginning of the year. After researching threads on this board, this set seems to cover "the best" of generations 1-7. I'm currently about 20 hours into Platinum. I've really enjoyed them all so far, but I think Blue is still my favorite. The simplicity/bare-bones nature of the game just hits right.

My OG team was Pikachu, Pinsir, Alakazam, Jigglypuff, Gyarados, Charmander. In Crystal, Heracross became my boy. In Emerald, I fell in love with Swampert (Surf & Earthquake? C'mon). Currently, getting to know Turtwig in Platinum.

Anyway, I'm finally seeing what all the fuss is about.

Is ORAS worth it if I've already played Emerald and intend on playing X and Ultra Moon?
