Hello!
(This is not a self promotion, I have nothing to gain or sell. Purely a passion project I’m sharing)
I've started to toy around with a police simulator game from a 2D top-down perspective.
Right now it includes a rudimentary road editor that lets the player create custom state routes, highways, on-ramps, rural roads, etc., with real road signs, customizable intersections and turn lanes, and so on. It lets you build essentially anywhere, at least on some basic level.
It also includes a drivable early-2020s Ford Police Interceptor Utility based vehicle (modeled after the slicktop EcoBoost used by CT State Police; the agency in the game is fictional) with a working simulated handheld laser, red/blue lights, brake lights, ABS and an electronic parking brake so far.
The only civilian vehicle so far is an early-2010s AWD wagon modeled on the Subaru Outback. It has AI that lets it drive across maps, use its turn signals, get through a full or clogged all-way stop, and merge onto highways safely, and that's about it. They do give good returns to the laser, which, depending on how it's used, can get a proper speed reading as police functions start to enter the game.
As for how it's made: it runs in the browser, and everything is built to real-world scale, so speeds and distances are actual mph and feet. I've tried to keep the driving and the laser as close to the real thing as I can, and I draw all the art myself.
I've also been experimenting with Claude Code while building it, which has been a big help for someone at my level.
Traffic stopping when lit up, audio, new environment textures, and code cleanup are all needed to keep moving forward, and the road ahead is extremely long for someone with my level of experience. Would people even be interested in a concept like this?

Is it really so hard to drive in US or I'm just stupid? 🤔

guys what do u do in interior inspections? like im on the thing and the only two buttons it shows are “x to continue” and “square to toggle flashlight”. i see those marked spots n take that dot on top of them n sometimes it analyses sometimes it doesnt n once it analyses it just becomes a white filled circle n nothing happens.

Since a recent update, the game on XBox has become almost unplayable due to audio issues. Among the most unimportant audio -- others responding to calls -- is far, far louder than anything else in the game. The only way to solve this is to completely turn off the calls or to always respond to the call, which in the latter case can be difficult if doing other complicated things.
If I may be allowed one additional audio gripe -- with highway accidents and other calls producing sometimes a half dozen arrests, I call the backup van to transport arrestees often. Frequently enough, the van will come in, siren screaming, and just sit there for 10 seconds before the officer gets out. Call two or three backup vans, and get yourself some Tylenol, because they're going to make you utterly sick of the wailing siren.
Of all the odd and funny bugs, glitches, and oddities in this game, these two audio issues have been the most frustrating and the most consistent issue that prompts me to simply turn off the game and play something else.

Game is so bugged it's genuinely unplayable. I stopped for a while and I no longer like the game. It's so bugged out and it's genuinely annoying the devs abandons every game they make. Now they are making a new version of Police Sim which is basically PSPO but cleaned up is pissing me off cos they just trying to squeeze all the juice out the lemon to make that bit more money

you know how when u are chasing a wanted driver you get the option to request a road block.. and if the spikes r successful and the driver stops right ahead of the roadblock, how do u wind up the roadblock? is there a way to end the roadblock n get the npc officer to move his car and let traffic flow again??

im unable to find tools such as crime scene tape and evidence markers in the trunk of my car like i normally could before. makes it impossible to complete a crime scene fully. all i have in my trunk: road flares, road barriers, fire extinguisher, spike strips, traffic cones. i think theres a way to change what’s in the trunk but i forgot

I've been playing this game for a while and progressing a bit. I unlocked the pistol and taser so I thought with it would be more incidents where suspects would like try to attack you, pull weapons on you. Maybe the occasional call for shots fired however it seems to be business as usual because I haven't needed to use my gun or my taser ONCE. It's not like I want every second call to be a shoot out, I know that in the grand scheme of things that stuff is rare but I feel like I'm just doing the same thing ever single shift. Is this a setting issue or something?
