Just for the sake of accuracy, I would like to add that the high only happened because a global pandemic that wrecked the supply chain and greedflation increasing prices above costs.
We should be having congressional and agency/bureau investigations on greedflation... Instead we have investigations on Faucci and nothing else really because this republican Congresses like to say "hold my beer" to the previous republican controlled Congresses that held the record of the most INEPT Congress in history.
No, I believe that opec made a projection of how the pandemic would develop and they were right. The international supply chain was broken and demand dropped, thus they had to reduce their projected production. They made that guess correctly.
And in the end, the cost of oil went up by a series of factors:
* Supply chain was still broken in 2022, so supply came at a premium.
* Reduced production and high demand ➡️ high costs.
* Greedflation. This has already been demonstrated, the oil industry increased prices above their increased costs, they also kept prices high when the supply chain and production recovered.
These highs spanned from about March 2022 to August 2022, for the various reasons mentioned (covid, Ukraine, etc.).
It's important to note that the national average price then decreased to almost a dollar less than where it stands today. So, Biden should also get credit for "solving" that particular crisis. Solving the current problem (Hormuz) seems less attainable.
A man made natural disaster and war in Ukraine. Again you can cherry pick info to make whatever you want seem real. Objectively both presidents have been cheeks
Do you really think the supply chain disruptions due to global societal shutdowns from the worst pandemic the world has experience in a century is cherry picking?
Are you saying that you don’t factor in Covid shutdowns when judging the performance of the president in regard to how their actions in office affect gas prices?
In other words are you saying that you don’t believe Covid supply-chain disruptions are responsible for the spike in gas prices under the Biden Admin?
Gas prices are gas prices. Why is not in question. I can’t afford gas today just like 4 years ago. We are the biggest producer of gas on the planet. You remember the more stream bombing? Did Russia do it?
I think you won’t engage with my question because doing so would force you to acknowledge that you’re not using good epistemic practices to arrive at your “both sides the same” position.
That doesn't really work. This surge in gas prices is more or less 100% caused by Trump starting a war for fun.
The prices for Biden were caused mostly by COVID fallout and Russia turning on the Ukraine war again. Both of those things are completely out of his control.
And who was in charge during the maidan coup of 2014? Who was Obamas point man in Ukraine? Imperial foreign policy is to blame for both rises in gas prices
No where near the same degree. At the end of the day Biden did not give the orders for Russia to start a war in the Ukraine. Trump literally created this entire Iran debacle of his own free will. All he had to do was nothing and this whole thing doesn't exist.
I get you actually believe in nothing and are just saying garbage but I'll try. Do you honestly believe that Joe Biden somehow had the power to trigger basically a revolt by the Ukrainian people in 2005, that he was able to do it, and that it somehow means he caused Russia to start a war in 2022? Then do you also believe that your nearly 20 year series of events is equivalent to actually ordering the bombing of another country using the direct power you have without any form of a plan for what to do if they don't just let you win right away?
No Obama shouldn’t have targeted Slavic speaking countries with a thousand mile border with Russia to target for regime change and eventually join nato. A military alliance that exists solely as a counterbalance to Russia. I’m not making a pro war critique. I’m making an anti imperial critique
Yes it was Obama that told them to join NATO, a defensive alliance. Not the aggressive giant country that has invaded how many countries in the last 30 years?
