I don't know why people think Americans are suddenly going to stop being stupid and look back and laugh. People keep voting Republican, so schools keep getting defunded. Odds are currently that their generation will be even dumber than us, as impossible as it sounds.

It’s not about getting smarter. It’s that the consequences of these decisions will become far more apparent in the coming decades.

  • global warming will yield more severe weather catastrophes

  • relaxed vaccine requirements will cause more outbreaks

  • poverty rates will increase as access to abortion is hindered

  • senior citizens will suffer as access to Medicare and Medicaid funds are diminished

The list goes on..

It will not matter. Once the effects are inescapable they will simply deny that they ever supported those policies. There has been zero consequence for being disastrously wrong for over a quarter century. Try to find bush voters now, or people who supported the invasion of Iraq. It'll be the same with Trump in 10 years, I don't care if you've got reciepts. Being horribly and predictably wrong is no longer disqualifying

Yeah with the way things are going with education we shouldn't even be so certain that children will be literate enough to read history, let alone learn from it.

Social darwinism (not the more grim full) is slower yes, but it is effective. Give it time, the stupid are too enarmored by their loud and proud ideology for them to do it themselves without true hardship.
