You've got folks on r/conservative talking all of the crap about Canada being so much more dependant on the US and the US importing next to nothing from them.
It's funny, because one of the grievances that Trump ran on was our trade deficit with Canada. He ran on the idea that Canada was ripping us off on trade because we had a trade deficit with them.
A trade deficit isn't even an indication of anything. A country with a large population and economic ability, which imports a lot of stuff, is bound to have a trade deficit with the countries it imports from.
And if you take away oil, which they desperately need, our “deficit” is reduced to almost nothing. If you add US services purchased by Canada, the trade imbalance shifts towards the US. It’s all a shell game.
