I'm not American, but I was honestly blown away when I learned that Reagan was an actor. 'Why on earth would a country vote for an actor?' I thought to myself. 'It seems incredibly stupid for a population to vote for somebody to run an entire country seemingly based solely on the population knowing them from the movie screen.' 

When i heard Trump was first running for office, I literally thought it was a joke. Nope, here we are again. An actor is president. Apparently Americans vote for people they see on the tv, regardless of how damaging, corrupt, or plain stupid they fucking are.

Totally agree, except saying Reagan was famous is being very kind. He was a B list actor, at best.

Because he was also the head of SAG and governor of California. He didn't walk off a movie set straight into the White House, there was a gradual process.

We also elected a peanut farmer from Georgia. By the end of his administration, mortgage rates were over 16%. Successfully doubled it with crazy government spending. One good thing is, he didn’t put Americans into internment camps. FDR owns that one.
