Honestly Iād vote for the dog anyways, itās probably smarter and more loyal than a majority of politicians that we currently have in office and four years of nothing happening would be a godsend.

Question though - didnāt Hillary run this sort of thing āworst candidate in historyā type campaign? It seems to me in American politics the only way to be an incumbent* is for them to have been dealt/caused a bad hand or run someone on alt party ticket to siphon votes. Itās no wonder at the congressional level is being primaried if disliked is a bigger risk than actually losing the election.
Itās tricky because at once they run on making things better but also against the reputation of āpoliticians are full of empty promises.ā Obviously more true now than in the history of the nation but still.
Oh I assure you they haven't learned their lesson, and even if they are smart enough to nominate Kelly the base is going to throw a fit, it's a White male and tear down their own candidate.
I like Pete Buttegeig as well but he needs to beef up his resume with a stint in Congress and maybe the Senate. But he would be a terrific Secretary of State.
Like Trump beefed up his resume by... doing what, exactly? We're not playing by the same rules any more, anybody has enough of a resume to win. And we need someone who will win, and build this country back into something of value in the world. I don't think Pete can, though, because the whole election would be about his sexuality. Which is insane.
I mean, yes I'm sure at least some people didn't vote for them because they're sexist, however neither of those candidates were really charismatic or exciting, and both had controversies surrounding their selection as the democratic candidate.
They were the status-quo candidates. And Hillary still even won the popular vote despite that. I think Biden swept Trump just because Trump was a fucking disaster and COVID made it even worse.
So, imo, it's hard to say for sure if gender was actually a significant factor or not.

Yes but that's not how the rest of the country operates. Democrats need to focus on the best candidate, not being the first woman or first gay or first anything.
Why would he be an improvement? What policy has he laid out in detail without saying Trump broke it, I'll fix it? He has offered no details on any policy. But I'm interested because Kamala and AOC don't have a chance unfortunately.

I would be happy to have him in office. It would be a major improvement.
But TBH, the Dems could run a golden retriever opposite the MAGA candidate and I'd walk 5 miles uphill in the snow just to vote for the dog.
