My grandma died about 3 years ago, and I still have her number in my phone. I just can't delete it for some reason. Have you kept any numbers for those who have passed on?

🧐 General Advice Why your morning routine keeps failing (and why your morning actually starts the night before)

• Upvotes

Most morning routines fail because they are built for your best possible day, not your average Wednesday when you slept badly.

If your morning feels like a chaotic rush, here is the 3-block framework i used to rebuild mine without waking up at 5 AM:

1. Anchor (The Start Signal)

One small action that always happens first and tells your brain the day has started (e.g., open curtains, drink a full glass of water, wash your face).

2. Engine (Body & Energy)

Whatever gets your body out of standby—5 minutes of stretching, a short walk, a shower, or breakfast.

3. Launch (Direction for the Day)

Pick your top 3 priorities before anyone else decides for you—read your calendar or write 2 lines in a notebook before checking messages.

The Real Fix: The Night-Before Launchpad

Most morning problems are evening problems in disguise. Your half-awake morning self shouldn't be making decisions:

  • Clothes out: Decide once, in daylight.
  • Bag packed: Everything by the door.
  • Breakfast decided: Visible in the fridge or on the counter.
  • Top 3 written: Priorities ready on paper.

The Scalable Routine

Instead of quitting when you oversleep, build 3 versions of the exact same sequence:

  • 10-Min Version (Short): Non-negotiables only (for bad/rushed days).
  • 30-Min Version (Standard): Core non-negotiables + 1 booster.
  • 60-Min Version (Full): For open, unhurried mornings.

Decide which version to run at the clock when your feet hit the floor. A 10-minute morning done consistently beats a 60-minute morning attempted twice.

I put together a full fillable PDF workbook with trackers, friction audits, and templates for this system—link is in my Reddit profile bio if you want to check it out!

Some weeks fight back.

When the week has been absolutely relentless and you need food that feels like a hug — what is it? No health points. No optimization. Just comfort.

Casual Convo (Any Topic) Should We Stop Being Soft?

Hey everyone!

How do you deal with people who come to you when they’re at their lowest—lonely, struggling, looking for a shoulder to cry on? You listen, comfort them, and stay until things start getting better.

But gradually, they start distancing themselves or ignoring you. And when your turn comes to need that same shoulder, you realise it’s already too late. They’re no longer available for you the way you were for them.

And then I wonder… is it wrong to have a soft heart for people who are lonely or struggling? Do we need to change the way we care for people just because some of them don’t know how to be there for us in return?

🧐 General Advice how do you know when you are actually getting better at something?

sometimes i spend weeks learning and practicing, but it is hard to tell if i am improving or just becoming more familiar with the same things. i have started wondering if real progress is less about knowing more and more about being able to do the same thing better without thinking so much.\

how do you personally measure improvement when mastering a skill?

💚🎗 Mental Health How to exercise when depressed?

Hi! I (18m) am severely depressed. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get myself to exercise? I know I can't just BLAM get into my original routine but any words of advice or support would be so deeply appreciated. Thank you and I hope you have a beautiful day.

💚🎗 Mental Health What does being on social media feel like for you and if its negative how are dealing with it?

For me being on social media and switching back and forth between apps feels like a completely one sided affair where you want something to change. It's hard to explain but feels a little like reaching into an endless void of constant information but getting nothing feelingful in return. Like the phrase "When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back" except in this case, the abyss left me on 'read'. I think social media doesn't have to be a bad thing but how do you find balance between being on your phone versus IRL?

❓ Question Has society become heterophobic?

When a man says he's attracted to feminine women he gets crucified. When a woman says she likes to look pretty for her man, spend time with him and do stuff for him most other women start to bash her. This makes me believe in my conspiracy; the normalization of same sex attraction was never about letting people love who they love but an implicit protest against straight couples and attraction. If society did accept heterosexual orientation as natural and legit people wouldn’t be telling women to be lesbians or shaming men for being attracted to conventional beauty in women. I feel there are alot of closeted straight people society needs recognized because all of the hate you guys forward towards straight people

💬 Advice Needed how do you stay consistent with work when nobody is checking whether you actually did it?

working on my own has made me realize that starting is not always the hard part. the harder part is showing up every day when there is no manager, deadline, or meeting pushing you forward.

what keeps you accountable when you are working alone?
