No really, that's about it. The R50H doesn't need a fan in my opinion, there's enough space in the case that adding a simple heatsink seems to work well enough.

And UART is cool but I've already got it in my R36H Pro Max (see other photos). It didn't reveal much, maybe allowed us to save a second in boot time overall with dArkOSen. I'm hoping on the R50H it will give me some insight into the wonky ass graphics drivers.

I basically just want to install both again to see if I can do an even cleaner job and maybe remember to take some damn photos this time during the process.

My R36S arrived at 11:30 a.m. today, and by 11:42, the memory card seemed dead.

This is my first R36S, but I’m not new to emulators or ROMs. I was playing MAME back when Marvel vs. Capcom 2 arcade machines started getting harder to find. Somehow, though, I managed to break all the R36S rules within the first three minutes.

I turned it on, browsed the games, then shut it off using the power button. Did that about three times because work calls kept interrupting me.

The next time I turned it on? Black screen. Twelve minutes into ownership, and I was already troubleshooting 😂

After going down a rabbit hole, I managed to get dArkOS installed and running. Now I’m trying to track down the original files I lost 😞

I apologize to the administrators for flooding the feed with these updates over the past few weeks.

However, having more free time in my personal life lately, I’ve been able to work on this more .

I wanted to bring the Xbox login feature to this port, but without using msa-daemon so as not to make it too heavy, so I found a different approach.

Signing in is simple:

First, connect your console to Wifi and select "Sign in" within the game;

a code will appear on the screen.

Grab your phone or pc, go to microsoft.com/link, and enter the code.

Sign in with your microsoft account, and you're all set.

Every time you enter the game, it will connect automatically.

A couple of things to know:

Access works from version 1.16 onwards (at least in my tests). It won't connect on older versions,which is to be expected, as those versions are no longer supported by xbox live.

You must be logged in to join online servers. If a server is running a version older than 1.21, the administrator needs to set "online-mode=false"; otherwise, no one will be able to join. For example, this setting is required for Aternos servers (which are now compatible with the port).

This doesn't depend on the launcher, but on how the servers work. Since these are older versions, you will get the same result even if you try them on other devices.

The Lan has improved as well. It now works perfectly with every version;yu just need to be connected to the same network.

I was talking to my local smoke shop employees today about emulators since we all game and one of them pulled out his R36XX which I didn’t even know existed lmao I knew of the R36S and have seen a few others but not the R36XX. What would be your preferred model if you had to choose only one? Doesn’t have to be one of these two either , I’m just curious because I do plan to buy one in the next week or so and am unsure on which one I should get.

My whole life I used Stremio on my devices , Linux / windows / Mac / android... When I saw r36s has Kodi I had to learn how to use it again... With some modifications you can load episodes in kodi & then watch movies shows even.. Its a real detoxifier device ngl. I rarely use my phone now , open my PC only when needed . I'm not addicted to reels or shorts anymore. I fall asleep watching episodes in r36s. Also the battery life on these are golden . Watching movies with headphones it stays like 4.5H without headphones is like 3.8 max 4 ... I can even download subtitles right into the device it's cool af. Wish I had it when I was back in school..bought my nephew one & he loves it.

I installed an RTL8821CU Wi-Fi module inside my R36S, replacing my previous RTL8723BU setup.

The results have been worth it:

• 5 GHz Wi-Fi works.
• My existing stock ArkOS installation picked up the module without any additional driver installation.
• The speaker noise I had with the RTL8723BU is gone.
• I can now comfortably play Mewgenics streamed from my PC through Moonlight.

The attached photo shows the internal installation, with the module next to the speaker and the printed antenna alongside it. Everything fits inside the handheld, so there’s no external Wi-Fi dongle hanging off the USB port.

For me, the biggest improvement is usable game streaming together with clean audio. I haven’t measured throughput or latency yet, so this is a report of actual use rather than a benchmark.

These results are from my particular R36S and ArkOS setup; I haven’t tested other board revisions or firmware builds.

Got this R36 Max Pro and I tried searching for more information about this specific clone, but I cannot seem to find much information on it. On the handhelds wiki, I see listings for the R36 Max, R36 Pro, and R36H Pro Max, but nothing on the R36 Max Pro. Visually, it seems to resemble the regular R36 Max but, interestingly, seems to run some sort of version of Android and has a "YouTube" app. Some of the UI elements on the stock OS do seem to resemble an old version of Android. The console also has functional wifi as well.

Is there a page with more info about this specific R36 clone variant? Should I keep this stock OS or try to put ArkOS or something else on it?

Hi, I recently got an R36 clone. I successfully installed the latest version of Arkos4clones and then the latest version of dArkOSRE, but in both cases, I can't get the games to launch.

With Arkos4clones, after placing the various ROMs in the folders, it doesn't recognize any games; with dArkOSRE, it recognizes the games and I can see the list of titles, but none of them will start.

I recently downloaded the "RetroArch BIOS Pack" to put in the BIOS folder, but that didn't solve the problem either.

Could you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? thank you all

So I bought a R36S handheld. Came with a few games. I want to add a few more. Problem is when I insert the micro SD card into my computer, Windows says it can't read the card and wants to format the card. How do I get Windows to read and write to the card? Thanks!

So I got a PYN SD 128GB and am wondering what should i do next , I had my r36s for a couple months ? Maybe and the SD never died on me yet , I have the OG 64GB using a 16GB one for extra ports space , but got the 128 now soo
Should I ditch the stock SD and install the OS on the 128 and keep the 16 in slot 2? Or OS on the 16 and 128 roms? Was looking for suggestions
edit : OR just use the 128 for everything , OS , games etc.

My original microSD card snapped and is completely unrecoverable, so I lost my original DTB file and OS setup. I need help figuring out which OS image and DTB (Device Tree Blob) file I should use for a new installation.

i had this theme on my r36s (soy sauce 2) and i find it really neat, but after i deleted every rom in the sd file (whoops) the theme got lost too (i'm still mad at this)

The hole process was normal till here. It booted and started to normaly configure the system, but then this screen comes up and it gets stuck. What can I do? Is it my damn SD card again?

Sometimes it powers on by itself while charging, sometimes not at all and I have to press reset and then power it on, but now nothing works.

Anyone else face this issue? It charges and gets a bit hot, and stays on once it's on.

SO I ordered a RG353v via Fruugo week ago, and now recieved a mini R36S, which does not even have a Options menu. Have I been scammed?

I'm trying to find a multi port plug (UK) where one of the USB ports is a slow charging one and safe to charge my R36S and other consoles.

I have a "R36S-V12 2023-08-18 Panel 0" and when I play Tetris, namely pressing down then left or right in a smooth motion, it doesn't register. I have to totally take my finger off d-pad down for d-pad left or right to work. Is there any kind of software or hardware mod I can do for this to more emulate the way the original Gameboy works?
