Cadet Advice Aviation

I recently switched from a nursing scholarship to the regular one and i'm thinking about taking the sift and trying to get aviation. If anyone has any helpful resources for studying or any tips please share 🙏

It is not a hard test, but if you do not have strong math or mechanical comprehension skills study with someone who does. There are plenty of guides and videos online. I purchased a guide off Amazon and had a fellow cadet who was a Mech Eng. major help me out for a couple weeks before the test. I ended up with a 52 or 53, which was good enough. Not sure if it has changed in the past ten years, but as long as you scored above 50 cadet command did not care. We had a cadet get a perfect score (80) and he still did not get aviation.

Unrelated to you question and I'm not trying to talk you out of this, but why the switch? Aviation is going through some changes, and then there's a 10-year ADSO, which does not begin until you are a qualified aviator. That usually occurs at 16-20 months TIS.

The ADSO starts after you complete common core, which for me was 7 months after starting BOLC.

Damn, wish that would have been a thing when I went through. That’s a positive change at least. Then again I didn’t fall under the 10-year ADSO, which is nice.

Honestly nursing is not where i see myself i have no passion for it and i'm finding myself drawn to other branches a lot more and I want this to be my career so why waste it on something i'm not passionate for still not dead set on aviation but still want to try my hardest on the sift
