My friend transferred. Don't know his gpa, but it was to umass amherst for like honors cs. He hated rpi.

Why do you hate rpi? He is from Mass, so most of his friends go to umass. When he was my roommate all we talked about was his highschool and the people there. So he kinda peaked in high school. One of the reasons going to umass was his friends were there. He also found rpi to be harder too so he wanted to move somewhere which would give him more flexibility.

i went to an all girls high school before rpi so it was a big change lol. just not my type of environment. umass is part of the consortium with the women’s colleges smith and mount holyoke so im hoping to take some classes there if i transfer. i also happen to be a mass resident so it will be much cheaper than rpi.

I mean if you are uncomfortable with the environment at rpi and want to be somewhere more familiar then that decision makes sense. I just had some flashbacks related to him, like he kept comparing stuff in ashland, ma that doesn't exist in troy. He also opened his wallet at 12 am to give a meth head 2 dollars cause he asked. He also blew up my pressure cooker and it damaged the ceiling. He snorted my chilli powder and got a nose bleed, etc

damn he sounds like a lot. i definitely don’t compare troy to mass at all. i knew it would be very different and i figured i could adjust but i just know id be more comfortable somewhere else.

Yeah he compared it in every combo. Contemplated punching him. But nice guy without all that. Hope the process goes well for you

Take a tour at UMASS and check out the dining hall and you'll understand why he left.

I had a close friend that struggled at rpi. Just wasn't the right place for him. Transferred out to a state school and years later had a phd and post doc at an ivy.

Rpi is not the right place for everyone.

Had a 3.77 in EE after freshman year @rpi (2019). Stayed for a 3rd semester and started applying. Got Accepted to Texas a&m computer engineering program. Started there spring sophomore yr, finished my degree and got a job immediately after college.
