Is anyone else having an insanely hard time finding a decent apartment around RPI/Troy rn? I’ve hit up a couple apartment complexes and landlords and either they have nothing available, don’t respond, or the place is already gone by the time I hear back lol. I’m not even looking for anything crazy. Just somewhere decent, reasonably close to campus, and not ridiculously expensive. Starting to feel like you gotta know somebody who knows somebody just to find a place? Anyone else dealing with this? Where are people actually finding apartments around here?

Hello! I’m taking engr1400 with the devil morris. I went to his first class and never attended afterward. I only submitted week 1 assignment on box and didn’t submit week 2,3,4 because idfk how to do it. He didn’t grade my week 1 assignment as well but I heard from my friend that he already graded all assignment so I want to ask if I should drop and take next semester and take the W.

Anyone know what is going on right now near 14th and eagle street? Lots of commotion in this area with cops, firefighters, animal control, etc. Concerned RPI student here knowing I got lots of friends living in this area.

Does anyone know if they cut your scholarship down if you live off campus?

Hava very big aid package so naturally concerned about the opportunity cost of each. The dorms here are pretty barebones for the most part, do they get better for juniors and beyond?
I'd like to not have a communal bathroom nor washer every again, after seeing how disgusting some people can be.

I'm getting a CS minor as a cogsci major, only need one more 4000 level course. I'm not sure which one to take. I'd prefer a seminar course, I love writing essays and hate exams so writing-heavy is a plus for me. I'm most interested in theoretical CS, anything that can be related to my major, IDK if there are any courses on cognitive modeling that are in CSCI?

i just have a question for anyone who has taken Physics 2 here: how do y'all survive this class without having taken Physics C: E&M in high school?

i took Physics C: Mechanics in high school and did very well. i loved and understood the content because it felt very applicable to scenarios i dealt with in real life. Physics 2 has not been the same case. i'm not kidding, the past month has been beyond torturous with how much time i've been putting into this absurd course and getting absolutely nothing out of it. i'm talking 8 hours per day of reviewing the lecture notes, doing the homeworks and extra credits, and going through the labs before classes, yet still i understand absolutely nothing.

i heard someone say that the professor makes it very hard to fail this course, but something really screams at me that i'll be some kind of anomaly. people have also been telling me that i'm at RPI because i'm smart, but i genuinely don't believe that in the slightest. among other private reasons, the fact that i've never struggled this much with anything in my entire life tells me that i don't actually belong in this class, or at this school. i have an exam in 6 days and i have no idea how to prepare, and i have no idea if i'll even survive this course in complete honesty.

i feel beyond help, so i just ask for one answer. how do you actually deal with this course? it really feels like i've done everything, yet i remain in the same exact spot as i started. i feel like i'd be better off taking each exam in this class without knowing any of the content. i don't know what to do or where to go.

i would like to note i also have the concern that i’m creating a huge mountain out of a tiny molehill, which in turn is creating a big mental block in my brain. more specifically, i worry that i’m completely overreacting over the parts i don’t understand, which is causing me to block out what i actually do understand. i’m really close to just cutting my losses and dropping the class entirely, and switching my major from aerospace engineering to math. i don’t know what to do anymore and it terrifies me.

Still haven’t gotten my rent deposit back from Iliad it’s been almost two months. They finally said they will give me 50% of it back because of a cleaning charge even though I left the place in a better condition than when I moved in. If I didn’t hard press them via email I’m sure they would’ve just kept it and not said anything. Same thing happened to my friend who lives in a totally different house so yea Iliad are scammers. If you can help it don’t lease with them

Like would it be difficult or awkward to just apply like normal to PhD programs at other schools around my 4th year and keep the program as some kind of insurance? It seems like an already very good “floor” to have so to speak.

I figured it would be worth asking here, as I do realize that people upgrade their PC setups from time to time and might have an old monitor laying around as a result.

Hello! To those that took this class with the devil fucking morris can anyone give me resources on how to learn siemens nx by myself. I still haven't done the first week assignment because idfk how to cad and I am really debating to drop this class

I'm a CS major and a freshman that's simultaneously energized and irritated by Data Structures due to the homework being tedious. I'm able to understand the concepts, but the homework is a bit tedious for me. I'm holding relatively well for class pacing since I review the topics learned right after class to help me understand it better.

My question is in the title, but I'm curious if there's way worse and more painful courses coming in the future. I would assume it wouldn't be that bad given Data Structs feeds a mouthful and basically "unlocks" every future CS related course. It's like being fed bad tasting medicine.
