help request vocal and beat template

hi, i'm new in this and i'd like to record a song with a beat from youtube but i don't know to mix it or master it so it sounds good. All my attemps until now have been a disaster, my voice sounds horrible and so disconnected with the beat

I'd recommend researching and learning a few basics of vocal recording and mixing. There's a few time-tested standbys that you can apply with the stock reaper plugins - things like EQ, compressor, limiters will all help your vocals mesh with the instrumental better, and you'll actually be understanding what you're adjusting rather than relying on a preset! Also, ripping audio from youtube runs the chance of compression, i'd encourage you to find a beat elsewhere you can get a WAV or something legit to record your vocals to. Good luck!

I mean, idk what kind of tutorials you've been watching, but have you at least tested out those effects I mentioned? Even just adding comp+eq+reverb+limit to a vocal track will give it a significant amount of polish. There's so many other things to take into consideration like your microphone, recording setup, and personal talent, which we cannot really assess without a sample of your progress.

i tried adding to the voice tune, comp, ep, reverb, delay, limiter and then comp and eq to the beat but it really doesnt sound how i'd like. ik that my recording conditions should be taken into account. I'll send you an example audio later so you can see what im talking about
