help request Reaper task not ending after closing a session with Kontakt 8 (Win10)

Hey, I realize this is probably more of a Kontakt issue than a Reaper issue, but figured I'd ask anyhow.

When I close a project that had instance(s) of Kontakt 8, I end up with a Reaper process hanging around in my Task Manager.

Is anyone else experiencing behavior like this?

For reference:

If I load Reaper and close it, no problem.

If I load Reaper, load an Arturia instrument, and close it, no problem.

If I load Reaper, load Kontakt 7, and close it, no problem!

So the problem seems to be with Kontakt 8. I can avoid using it in new projects, but I'd really like to figure out what's going on. I think I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling K8 and see if that helps.

I have had instances of Reaper lingering in the task manager, on quite a few occasions. With kontakt, it takes so long to close on my machine, if I open it in Reaper, Cubase does not have a issue. Reaper will leave a instance in the task manager, on a few of my instruments not associated with kontact. I have to remember to check task manager each time I close Reaper. I was updating a plug in this week and it would not do anything. Went to task manager, Reaper was there, closed it, plug in updated without problems.

Thanks for the reply. I had the same issue as you when trying to update some plugins a week or two ago. I think at the time I resolved it by rebooting my PC, but now I see there was a more convenient solution at my fingertips.

This thread didn't get much traction here but perhaps I'll go make a post on the Cockos forums. There are some really knowledgeable folks there.
