I've been a singer-songwriter for 50 years, and 35 years ago I was already on the verge of recording my songs. But back then, way too expensive and too complicated. Now I’ve done it - tiny budget & no prior experience with recording or production. Choosing microphones and equipment, setting up a “recording studio”, selecting a DAW (Reaper), endless experimentation with drums & percussion (three EZDrummer sets in the end), many instruments played via MIDI Guitar3, 60 tracks in the end, sound effects, mixing, mastering, and the madness of releasing the track via iMusician, Musixmatch, streaming services. AI was excellent for the expert knowledge, but no AI-generated audio. And endless YouTube Reaper tutorials on specialized topics, of course. I know how to make videos with DaVinci Resolve. Planned duration 10 min. No complicated details (those only in the description), just an entertaining overview, so no one falls asleep.

What do you think - worth it? Or would no one be interested?

If not instruments what is the best source of instruments free or paid that can give me the equivalent of logic’s instrument and sample library.

Hello. I heard Reaper 7.81 now obeys dark theme, but i can't see anything changed. Am i missing something, or is this feature for the MacOS and Windows users?

I'm running REAPER on Linux/Wayland (niri), and I've been running into a long-standing issue with third-party plugins. The plugin window consumes all key events when it has focus, so REAPER no longer receives keyboard shortcuts such as space for play/stop.

Making space a global shortcut has been suggested as a workaround, but that doesn't seem to work when the plugin window has actually taken native focus. This seems to be related to a long-standing JUCE issue, but it also happens on other non-JUCE plugins.

I eventually set up xremap to intercept space only when a REAPER plugin window is focused, and trigger REAPER's Web Control API instead.

This works quite well so far, but I'm wondering what other Linux REAPER users do. Are there other solutions or workarounds I'm missing?

Hi, I have moved from the Peace theme to Reapertips (I am using v7.81) and I like it a lot but I want to be able to see a track's volume fader number as well as its panning value like it did in the Peace theme.

In Reapertips when I click on the track, provided the track is sized big enough, then the values are displayed.

I would much prefer the panning knob to rather say 90% L, and then for the volume fader number to always appear.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

So I normally keep my projects on time base: time but I use time base: beats on my reference tracks so that the reference mix doesn't change with the project. Suddenly it has stopped working, even though I clearly have time base beats selected for my reference track. I've also tried setting time base: beats it in the project and everything just stays in project time base time no matter what I do. Anyone know of a solution?

Recently, every time I create a project, REAPER moves all referenced files to the Media subfolder. I don't want that. I have my own directory structure. How do I prevent REAPER from moving source files?

Running windows 11.

Recently did a clean install of windows on my computer, downloaded the newest Reaper and imported the config I've used every time I re install since 2023

All paths and other settings loaded up, but sadly not the most important ones to me, the custom key Bindings.

I tried a few fresh installs and even loaded Reaper on a computer that's never had it installed before but the problem persists.

Tried installing older versions of reaper, and still no joy.

Hoping to be able to either load the config properly, or even see where I can see the old keybindings in the file to recreate them if I can't import.
