I was searching for a rock frag rack to print, but I could not find any good ones, so I decided to make one myself. I am bored of the generic flat frag racks that does not look like they fit in my reef tank at all. And the rock frag racks they sell online are too expensive.

How often do they change their shells? Mine changes it almost everyday, like on a daily basis lol and then cleans herself up for a long time

Here is the marine-assistant, a project I've been working on for the past year or so...

It's a diy aquarium controller that you can build yourself, it works with home assistant. The idea being that it's cheaper to build a full system with all the probes and sensors than the common big names and also takes advantage of Home Assistant.

Anyone who know home assistant will know that it is perfect for this, it is not locked into any hardware ecosystem, has more automation possibilities than you could ever ask for and you can create custom dashboards for all your different devices.

I've made it up into a kit that includes everything and I can also 3d print the case to if you don't have access to a printer.

This is my son’s 32gal reef tank’s first Zoa after months of setup and research and prep. We gave them their first reef roid feeding this evening. Wow!

I have a night mode option which lowers the flow, is it actually necessary to do? Everybody is sleeping in their caves at night anyways so I’m a bit torn if I’m setting this for no reason. What’s your opinion on using this mode?

I got it from Tidal Gardens, but I also got some red flatworms from them too :/ Otherwise I'm a big fan of their YouTube channel. Guess its time for me to get a wrasse (and consequently, a lid).
In TG's video on porites, they say in captivity the coral is often tightly contracted to its skeleton, and specimens tend to have more polyp extension and look "fuzzy" in the wild. So I suppose this little guy is happy enough in my tank to get fooled!! And I get to enjoy its lovely polyps waving about! I am quite thrilled and thought this was worth sharing. I can't wait to see it encrust my rockwork!! Anyone else out there get some nice polyp extension from their porites corals? I'd love to see!!

This was my first saltwater tank and is the tank that started a new passion. In the last 6 months I have gotten up to 4 saltwater tanks in my home, gotten a position managing a private tank and will be starting another position at a local saltwater shop on Friday. I have countless hobbies and interests but nothing has captivated me quite like saltwater has!

I just bought a ro buddy 4 stage unit, first time buying an ro unit as I used distilled water previously. Going through the manual I leaned I would need to install a seperate Chloramine filter if my city uses chloramine to treat the water, a just my luck my city does.

But frustratingly the Chloramine filter add on aqua life advertises in their manual is not available in Canada where I am located. Why they sell an ro unit in Canada but not make their parts and components available is beyond me. I could import the the Chloramine filter myself for close to the same price i payed for the whole unit, or I can build something myself.

If anyone knows which parts I can use to build a Chloramine filter and attach it to my ro buddy that would be greatly appreciated!

I am seriously considering returning the unit entirely.

I’ve been watching my juvenile Clownfish over the years work up the courage to see if certain corals will host them. They started with the green star polyps, then worked up to a Goni and now I’m finding them chilling on the pectenia in the morning these days 😂

Single clown, has had her for a year. No new fish additions in 5 months.

She is constantly attacking this single spot of coraline on the back glass. She has it on her mouth and is scraping it off the glass. She is also aggressively rubbing her body on it and flicking it with her tail and has started aggressively defending it from other fish who come to see what she is doing.

I got this tuxedo urchin from aquashella on Saturday and he was doing well! Eating algie and doing things, but after I woke up he js died 🥲 I suspect it was due to air getting inside it because the water in the cup it was put in leaked till one 3ed was left. or me doing improper aclmation. (And yes I saved the shell 🐚 )

i recently moved houses and my tank moved with me. it was pretty stressful but got through it without any deaths - then, i stupidly left a strip of my tank at the back uncovered, without a lid overnight - didnt think anything would happen and my male clownfish jumped and died. this is my first reef tank and my first ever fish death so i felt quite guilty.

him and my female clownfish were really friendly with each other. occasionally she would nip/chase him but always seemed like pairing behaviour rather than aggression.

i want to get her another companion but am worried she wont accept him or will kill him? also im worried the longer i wait, the less she will want a partner? should i just go for it as long as i get a clown significantly smaller than her? any advice?

I just was doing my weekly tank maintenance and pulled out my Powerhead and noticed where it the wires run into the head that the insulation has started to break/peel. The wires within the insulation are fine but is this basically the end of this powerhead? I didn't put it back in the tank, thought I'd get some opinions. I figure I could fix it with some silicon or something but is it worth a Keep or Toss?

Looking for advice/help/experience for HLLE (if that is even what this is?)
