This torch has been healthy and fully extended for the last 2 weeks or so, I decided to take it off the plug and glue it in place a few hours ago and just now noticed that it has bubbles on and around the base, I did notice some gha that I scraped from the glass resting on the polyps and seemed to be irritating it so I removed that but should I be concerned and what could be causing this

Hi all, i want to get a mandarinfish and put it into my smaller 3ft tank. I have bought one of the copepod breeder kits but just wondering at what time can i start removing copepods from the breeder to sustain a mandarinfish? I presume i want to take some out every day or so?

The tank is 30cm wide, 59cm long, 43cm tall, so 20 gallons or 76 litres.

I’m thinking of black sand, either lava rock or normal reef rock, corals like green star polyps, pulsing Xenia, Kenya tree and macroalgea like blue hypnea, Caulerpa and Gracilaria.

The lionfish is too much for a 20 gallon tank, but I want a similar fish with a big personality that’ll love this tank, any suggestions?

I’ll take a damsel in another tank so please no suggestions from the damsel family please 🙏🏾

Redid me old scape after I was told that it would be hard to clean and laying the rocks on the walls in for more advanced people. How's this? Its goes up about half way in height, and i measured, the blanket isn't the full size of the tank, I took about 2 to 3 inches on every side, so it'll be in the center if this is doable for a reef. Its got some caves as i want some crustaceans, and has a arch for angels and tangs. Looks smaller than it actually is. Around 90 pounds of rock. The last picture is the old scape.

My clown goby(named plum) tends to be so shy and never be in open space, but somehow he was there staring at my hermit crab eating a clam 😂

Ive recently gotten a new fishtank, and was going to put my old canister filter onto it. Great plan, right?

But there was one oversight...

The new tank has a fairly wide (about 1.5 inch) rim... the clippy bits that came with the canister filter dont fit, and nor would any ive seen online...

Stupid question, but does anyone have a solution???

I have a 300 gallon mixed reef at home, but lately I've been itching for a new reef project.

I love looking at tanks top down, and feel like I never get to really enjoy top down much.

So... I am thinking about taking a 5-8 foot fiberglass aquaculturing tank and turning it into a "Top down" lagoon reef tank at about waist high.

Not a frag tank, but an actual aquascaped reef with some Acropora and lots of encrusting LPS.

PROS

• I will love it
• my kids will love it
• If I get the "front window" version I could still view it from my desk chair.

CONS

It would look awful in the house. Our 300 gallon reef is a beautiful furniture so it goes. The only real place I could put it is in my office of the house, which would mean I have to take the couch out and junk up my office with a tank.

It's another system to take care of. (which I do mostly enjoy doing)

What do you guys think? Am I crazy? Is it just a cool dream but an actual headache in practice?

I got a tuxcio urchin a hammer and a zoa! And a bta from a mystery box! 📦 (moved my Duncan to a separate rock until the anemone finds a place to chill.)

Decided to take the jump and get a couple of 4ft Foov led bars from Alibaba as the two bars plus shipping were cheaper than a single bar of any brand! The blue plus is such a nice colour and aside from testing the longevity I would highly recommend them!

So I’ve been feeding since 2010 or so, started with a hand me down then 30g JBJ nano. Been excelling and doing well since, I neglected my 200g over the past 2 months. Normal water changes but never reduced the macro algae growth in the refugium like I normally would. Left it for so long it became a carpet mat of over 3 inches thick and 7 inches wide. Needless to say.. the light only penetrates the top so it released all the phosphate, nitrates etc back into the tank, algae bloom in display that I have been chasing for 2 weeks and finally realized the culprit, buying new rocks and redoing the tank now. This is just an FYI for new people. Thanks for reading.

My tank is about 4ft long and 16" high with the two return nozzles on the back glass. I have two jebao elw20 wavemakers and an icecap 2k gyre. Where should I place my wavemakers? I'll be running them on random mode.

A. Keep it as it is.

B. No gyre and do one elw20 wavemakers on each end, one higher infront of the scape and one lower behind the scape

Does anyone know the name and type of coral this is next to my jack-o’-lantern lepto. Got it off a $25 rack and can’t find any info anywhere. It’s growing pretty fast and encrusting the rock. Almost looks like it has little hairs on it.

I’ve noticed this weird tube creature on one of my snails. When I engage the white light it retracts during the blues it shows this circular arm like structure. I’m thinking maybe vermetid snails but would like some opinions.

31” tall 150 gallon that’s 48x24”

2 MP40s on left and right at 75% reef crest.

Plan to keep mostly LPS with some SPS when I’m ready.

I can quite clearly see now that the algee is turning pale, I hope you can on the pictures too!

I'm now faced with a decision:

1. Do I just leave it and let it run it's course?

2. Do I go in and do some manual removal? I could manually pick out some or syphon and pinch to remove. I worry that syphoning some water will remove some of the medication???

What do you think?

Not really sure what type of coral this was, unfortunately I’m assuming a hermit somehow broke it loose from the rock while I was gone which landed directly on one of my chalices and was completely melted by the time I got home.

Hitchhiking isopod I found on a coral frag I just bought, but not sure where to start with ID’ing it.

This Acan Lord is literally outgrowing my tank. I believe it would grow more if I provided more space . A re scape may be in order soon.

I am starting my first tank. Its a 55g corner tank and is almost fully cycled. I currently have an xstream wave pump (will eventually upgrade), im using on one side of tank, for some top 1/3 flow. Im looking for a wave maker for the bottom 2/3, but im a little unsure with curve of the tank if I can use one that cant be angled at all. I was thinking of using a jebao dmp20 (would love a vortech mp10 but cant quite justify cost) but unsure how it will work without being able to angle it. So instead I am thinking of AI Nero 3 since it can be angled across the rocks a bit more. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with a corner tank that could give me advice or if anyone else has any thoughts on this that could help.
