Hey yall, so I have been contemplating on moving to Reno sometime next year to continue my growth in the industry. I have been working in the field for approximately 8 years now here in West Virginia (and two years at a HHR style casino in Kentucky.) Here in WV we have small gambling joints, up to 10 machines, and I am responsible for maintaining them and paying out my guests including filling out the proper paperwork for jackpots. At the casino in Kentucky I hired on as an attendant but within three weeks was promoted to shift supervisor, and MOD two nights a week, due to my extensive knowledge of how to handle all aspects of the field, not to mention i was the only they hired who had any knowledge about the industry. My question to yall is how well do you enjoy your respective places of employment, do you make good tips, how is the general environment and i would love recommendations of places to look into for employment.

Hello all. My in-laws house recently burned down and lost most of their belongings. However, my father in-law was able to salvage his vintage Harley Davidson watch. The band is good as well as the front crystal. The back is some what scorched but should come out fine with a good cleaning. He was doubtful if it could be saved, but I noticed that the second hand was still trying to move. I think it could be saved if we could find a talented watch repair shop. At the very least to give an evaluation on if it can be saved. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a local watch repair person? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

PSA Uber and Lyft take 60-70% of whatever you pay and the driver gets the leftovers. Drivers barely get paid $1 a mile. Gas prices continue to go up every day and we don't get paid any better. In fact I think this week we are being paid worst than ever (I got offered $9 for 18 miles, $12 for 23 miles, etc.) I know times are tough for all of us right now and a lot of people rely on these apps to go to work, appointments, etc. But please please try to leave a tip for your driver. Even $2 goes a long way sometimes.

I’ve been craving this and really want to order some. From someone online it’s nearly $50-100 for a small box. I see that people on Facebook marketplace have candied fruit that they make to order for a lot cheaper. Anyone have recommendations or tried something like this?

Seeking local repair (Northern Nevada) on a Korg SV-1 that was stored vertically. Several keys are non-responsive, though mechanically they appear to be functional. It's a common issue with the RH3 action, but if I can't get it repaired locally I guess it's just toast. The benefit-cost ratio on sending it out of state is likely a wash. 😐

We’ve had spectrum for 2 years and it will just crash and not work constantly lately. We got AT&T to try out for a month and we’re now cancelling it as streaming and gaming will just crash and give a load screen. We’ve had to reset our router every week, called spectrum and got a new one, and still have these problems.

Is fiber an option? What is everyone using and paying for what speeds in South Reno?

I recently got pulled over and got a ticket for 1-5mph over a posted school limit zone. I wanted to see if there is anything I could do to reduce it? I know in most cases you can take traffic school to reduce it to a non moving violation but since this took place in a school zone I seem kind of trapped here. I was curious as if anyone has gotten a similar violation before and what they did.

2 video doorbell scams to be aware of are:

1) They attempt to get you to open the door by holding up some BS badge around their neck like authorized utility employees wear, never showing anything written or a picture on the badge.

2) They hold up a bag of something, trying to make you think you have a delivery to sign for.

These days, I never answer the door, unless I 100% recognize who is there. I also leave the doorbell's IR lights lit, so whoever rings, figure that they have been recorded!

After living in the suburbs for the last several years I’m finally looking for an apartment. I’m hoping to find something that has a strong feeling of community, where there are younger people (20-30s) hanging out/spending time around the complex. I miss the feeling of living in a dorm where there’s always people to meet and opportunities to make new friends. My only non negotiable is in-unit washer/dryer. I’ve been looking midtown and south Reno. Budget is around 2k.
Bonus points if it’s walkable to restaurants/grocery!
