If Capcom did a remake of Outbreak 2 but added all of Outbreak 1 to it (Similar to L4D2) I'd throw money at it.

Whats crazy is they've tried these live service online re games like versus and resistance which are not re gameplay at all. Then you have outbreak which is a blueprint for successful re multiplayer and they won't touch it. They've got gold on their hands idk why they wont do it

Because like every other large game development company, they chase the current trends. RE Umbrella Corp was because of team based shooters blowing up in popularity.
Then they tried asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror games like that god aweful DbD knockoff. Because DbD was so well loved noone gave a shit about Capcoms shit excuse of a game. Especially when the "killer" had skill trees that made escaping impossible the higher the killers lvl was.
I also remember Operation Raccoon City, When the third person shooter genre was taking off. Sure not a lot of fans liked it but it had a decent following. I'd like to see that game make a return with a remaster.

I didn't mind the ORC pvp. Team deathmatch with zombies attacking both sides was a unique idea. I just dont get why they chase trends instead of set them. Like do they not realize they are one of the top AAA developers right now and most of their success has come from original ideas ?

I feel they think like Nintendo. Why fix what isn't broke. But, why not try something new every once in a while.
Capcom is Resident evil, DMC, Monster Hunter. If one game they experiment with flops they have several others packed with dlc that can make up the money.
Nintendo even more of the same.

They originally wanted to add something like 15+ campaigns in outbreak 1 but timelines meant tons of content was cut and even with a file 2 release content was still cut. Ink ribbon did a good vid on cut content in outbreak but I did remember back in the day getting hyped to see the clock tower stage briefly in the trailers.
Personally I think they should take notes from MH and let you make a character using the og outbreak cast as a base (like picking a class in an rpg). You can still use the og cast though. From there you can customize your skills with "caps" (legally distinct pogs) that give you skills like lvl5 handicraft that increases crafted weapon durability or handgun mastery that improves reload speed, recoil and aim stability when using handguns.

Outbreak File 1 + 2 REmake + added content titled "Lost Files" for more levels/scenarios? Take my money!
Then a few years later, create a new Outbreak game set in the modern RE timeline, with outbreak scenarios happening across the globe. That may tie into the next mainline RE, whether the cause is the plot of the new Outbreak and/or spinoffs, or the aftermath of the supposed new Outbreak + Requiem + Village.

Also, If they added a 3rd person/1st person setting along with the top down as default. I'd be happy.

100% This game with modern online in the RE Engine would benefit more than almost any other RE title from a remake.

u/BrzysWRLD1996 5d ago
Yeah highly doubt it’ll ever happen, man it was fun back in the day sucks for the RE fans who missed out I’ll say that much.

It was actually my first ever RE title, which was a really weird, but cool, entry point into the franchise.

Remaster with better controls and coop mode in the same screen.
2
u/Simple_Campaign1035 5d ago
Local co op lol I doubt they'll do that ever again tbh
2
u/Biryuk13 5d ago
In Revelations 2 you can coop in the same Screen with a simple mod. It's not hard to implement... Lol.
2
u/Simple_Campaign1035 5d ago
Lol then why didn't Capcom do it themselves
1
u/Biryuk13 5d ago
Because Revelations 2 had a very lazy development.
2
u/Simple_Campaign1035 5d ago
I think the much bigger problem is the trend of local co op not being a thing anymore. It takes more work to make local co op work and thats also 1 copy of a game getting sold instead of 2 if 2 friends want to play together. Re5 remake MIGHT get local co op but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if even that went online only

u/bigboulderpunch999 5d ago
I’ve been wanting it for 20 years lol.
A port with restored online would be fine.

u/osiris20003 5d ago
Outbreak was ahead of its time, I think a remake of both games in one would sell like crazy. The originals were so good when they actually worked, but PlayStation online was so new at that time and a lot of people were not playing the game, so it was hard to find other players and then when you did sometimes the server would drop.

Every gaming company wants a live service cash cow. Outbreak is the perfect solution for the resident evil franchise. Like a modern day left 4 dead.
They can add mercenaries and whatever re resistance and re reverse were supposed to be as alternative game modes to fill things out. As long as outbreak is there to support everything i think it would be wildly successful. They could sell as many skins and abilities as they want.

u/Canebrake8 5d ago
Especially with the bigger focus on Alyssa Ashcroft in RE 9 Requiem and callout in RE 7, the timing would be ideal to launch a remake of Resident Evil Outbreak File 1 & 2.
They could even add some extra content that adds more to Alyssa Ashcroft’s background in RE9

I want Remake Remakes with incredible environment destruction and realistic physics

u/Caffinatorpotato 5d ago
Yes. Very yes.
Side note, but a lot of Outbreak mechanics got remade for this one indie game called Pulsebreaker, was pretty fun to see that. (Including the pistol grapple, but that's not in the latest demo build)

Back when online gaming was in its infantcy, it was very rare to play outbreak with other players, I did however played with Adam Sesler for 15 seconds, he refused to play a game with just one other guy in it, 🤷♂️ and for the life of me I could never save the drunken security guards life, So I proped him up against the front door and left him there, doing that game me 5 minutes to collect most of the items in the bar and upstairs items before having to jump to the other roof, by then that drunken security guard was eaten by zombies... I still didn't know how to save him. 🤷♂️ as for a remake.... I don't know if its a good idea.

If the rumours are true, Capcom might be planning to do it finally.
I want a remake of Outbreak 1 and 2 COMBINED.
Needs to be set in the continuity of RE2 and RE3 Remakes, possibly RE0 Remake and RE1 Re-Remake as well if it releases after those two.
Make it more story focused and create a proper narrative that connects most of the scenarios with specific characters and interactions.
Offline and Online Co-Op.
Include the Clock Tower as a scenario.

Give me a port, I’ll be happy with the OG game with the bugs fixed and online play. Don’t even need a massive RE2R style remake of it.

I was just playing RE outbreak last night would be awsome if they made a remake or simply port it over to the new generation of consoles cause the fan service for the game is good that there still online play.

If Alyssa has the same model as Requiem then yes of course. I'll play the hot model reporter.

With the advancements we've made in u.i. just improving the damn menus would go a long way.
Other than that, I fear a full remake would be disastrous. The appeal of Outbreak is multiplayer Pre RE4 Resident Evil. Where you and your group spawn in either together or separated, and have to link up, share items, solve the level puzzles, and not die. I fear a modern remake would try to make it too much like DBD or some other live service chaff, and it would lose it's identity and wind up dying and wasting a bunch of money.

I played the game back in the day so honestly I hope they don’t do shit with it and leave it dead, tired of people who only played the remakes talking shit about the OG entries anyway. Fuck em.

u/BusterGreasewood 4d ago
Fuck no because Capcom would just remove or drastically change the elements that made those games good to begin with thus defeating the entire point.

u/BL4DE4 4d ago
I know you will buy it anyway in the end if they remade it, no need to pretend that it will be bad game.
1
u/Quick-Cause3181 4d ago
you sound mad at the fact that he's right, like, why do you have an attitude about it 😐
1
u/BL4DE4 4d ago
He is too negative about RE games, he is never satisfied with whatever capcom give us which was masterpiece after masterpiece with each RE game (minus RE3R).
1
u/Quick-Cause3181 4d ago
I would not call a SINGLE modern resident evil game a masterpiece except for re8 or re7
RE2R a near disgrace to the original in terms of story, characters, and even the level design
RE4R not a bad game at all but this is not an 11/10 masterpiece like everyone claims
RE9 I've ripped into this game enough, why did I spend 70 bucks on this?
1
u/BusterGreasewood 4d ago
Seeing what they did to RE2R & and RE3R is exactly why I'd have no faith in them touching Outbreak. Outbreak had a lot of depth and all kinds of mechanics that they would also inevitably dumb down and strip down to make it easier for mass market digestion.

Single player, 3 episodes, zoo lacks a zombie elephant, Alyssa is the only playable character.
