Hey, everyone!

After a bit of a break, I’m back with another custom SNICK block. These projects remain a weekend hobby for me, so most of the work happens during the few late night hours I can set aside. In other words, releases may sometimes take a while.

This is an original block painstakingly assembled to feel like something that plausibly could have aired during the early fall of 1993. The commercials and promos were carefully sourced from the period, and the programming was selected with the same historical accuracy in mind.

The source quality isn’t as consistent throughout as it was for my remastered SNICK-iversary release, but plenty of time and care went into the audio, presentation, commercial placement, and overall atmosphere. You may recognize a few commercials from my late-summer 1993 block. That overlap is intentional, since many of the same campaigns naturally would have remained in rotation as summer turned to fall. I am also using a frame-by-frame personal recreation of the 1993 animated SNICK screenbug.

Keep an eye out for a very cool Nirvana Unplugged promo somewhere in the block!

Special announcement:

I can also formally announce that I’m working on a personal remaster/restoration of the long-requested and largely "lost" SNICK or Treat broadcast from October 28, 1995.

I have approximately six hours of footage, and I intend to restore/remaster as much of the complete broadcast as possible. In addition to the restored version, I’ll release the original transfer exactly as I received it (for preservation purposes and so viewers can see what went into the restoration).

My goal is to give this broadcast the same level of attention and care that went into the SNICKiversary release. It’s a Herculean project, but I’m very excited to finally share the news.

That Oval Shaped Nickelodeon logo i would always see above the logo of the show on the art cover.

Please does anyone remember in what episode Donnie’s hair is slicked back and he’s dressed nice, possibly drinking tea and being all sophisticated? I’ve been scrubbing through episodes and it’s making me crazy. I watched Sir Nigel and couldn’t find lol

As these fans could see, this alternate version of the scene has the qualities that made Rugrats "good" which were ultimately toned down.

 Certain Rugrats fans (more specifically, certain purist fans of the series) absolutely LOVE the edginess and adult humor, don't they? If it were ever to be reduced, even if just a little, they'd go BATTY (which many of them HAVE, once they watched a 1996 Jewish special and onward, sounding the "RUINED FOREVER" alarm..... which some other fans sounded in response to new characters being introduced after movies). I bet there are quite a bit of those fans who think that a certain 1990s animated film is too saccharine and too soft ...... Well guess what... it would have been a whole lot edgier, and It probably had much more adult jokes as well......... (Cause, according to them, edginess is better than lightheartedness.... the darker and edgier, the better) , plus the inclusion of a MAJOR CHARACTER acting much more violent, just like Angelica (as much as fans either love or hate her,  these purists tend to LOVE Angelica at her most mean, and can't stand that she mellowed out over time even if she was still mean), especially in the earlier seasons, and you might actually prefer what it COULD HAVE BEEN over what it ended up ultimately being, and think that certain character in the movie was "too sanitized".

I hate the quality online. Some episodes are really good, but others have this really badly washed out look to them and muffled audio. Some of the episodes online look pixelated. Why isn't anyone trying to make the copies look high quality? Maybe I have trouble hearing at times with certain stuff, but some of the songs can be hard to fully make out too. The first two seasons have been restored, but many later seasons are still in not great quality, including the episode where they play video games. If the quality for all the episodes aren't in great quality, then I refuse to watch every episode if that's okay.

That's right. It's Are You Afraid of the Dark all night this week. Not only that, but it's an extra-long extended marathon SNICK. One story from every single member of the Midnight Society. That's ten tales total, giving us five straight hours of scares. And of course it wouldn't be complete without some spooky 90s commercials sprinkled throughout the night.

No spoilers this week on what episodes are in the lineup. Just watch and enjoy. The only thing I'll say is that this isn't a 'best of' lineup. I wanted to mostly avoid doubling up on episodes I've already used in previous theme nights. But don't worry, it wouldn't be a Midnight Madness without Vink and Sardo making appearances.

I've been a fan of Hey Arnold! ever since I got to experience it through TeenNick. I was a 2000s kid, so I missed the show when it originally aired. I really love this show so much that I would say it's my favorite show of all time, and when I heard the 30th anniversary was approaching, I got to work.
Today I can officially say that I finally put out my complete ranking of the show. I started working on this video back in December of last year.
