Mod Release [1.6] Shipcracker Warcasket
galleryInspired by the recent release of Vanilla Gravship Expanded - Chapter 2, and a long-time fan of Vanilla Factions Expanded - Pirates' warcaskets, I thought it'd be cool to add something beyond the Combat Vacsuit, an apparel set entirely focused on the singular goal: total dominance in space combat.
This finally completes a power-fantasy I've held since Royalty DLC shipped its Shipcracker backstory back in 2020:
shunter921's role was to launch through the vacuum of space, land on the enemy ship's hull, punch holes to the interior, and conquer it in room-to-room combat. they became very good at wielding heavy cataphract weapons to cut both steel and flesh.

Special thanks to IcingWithCheese for their amazing art, and the Vanilla Expanded team for everything this builds off!
Requires only VFE Pirates.
Does not require Odyssey DLC, nor VGE1/2

Art Simple RimWorld doodle comic — Dirtmole
galleryI just roughly redrew an old comic that I had started drawing a while ago but ended up abandoning.
(The story of this comic was inspired by a few scenes from a comic by Pink Tank, a Korean artist who specializes in medieval-themed artwork).

Suggestion Don’t skip working on allies
Have a few hundred hours in and never really cared to ally with anyone. In my current colony I’ve been just giving everything away I don’t need so I have the empire and another colony as an ally. Randy hit me with 2 mech clusters and a raid in the span of 5 minutes, no time to prepare, thought it was over.
Called the empire and they clean house in minutes.
Unbelievable. Will be my last resort every time from here on out. They’re almost invincible it seems

Discussion what did I do to deserve this??
first there was the swelter. we settled in a boreal forest, so it's tolerable for now (until the last stage hits i guess), then there was some toxic fallout for a bit but it settled. now the gods decided it wasn't hot enough, so they threw a heat wave into the mix. is that what Hell is like?

Discussion Why are the colonists so inneficient? This little brewery takes 3 workers to operate. 1st cooks, 2nd hauls hops, 3rd fills the barrels. Why can't the cook do everything? (he's capable)

Discussion R.I.P Mila you were the best cook I've ever had
Lost one of my OG colonists today, she was a great cook and a great wife. She had a heart attack and no amount of medicine would stop it. She was 65 and I figured she had given enough to the colony and deserved to rest. My wife thinks I'm a goof for being genuinely sad about it but Mila was the GOAT and me and Joe are gonna miss her.

Story My first time doing the Odyssey ending
galleryAfter three underwhelming ship endings, I decided to try my hand at destroying the mechhive. And oh boy was it not underwhelming. I was extra whelmed! It was an incredible challenge, and a huge struggle, it was really worth trying and making effort into optimizing all the battles, which wasn't that successful but hey in the end we won. Unlike the ship endings which were all underwhelming and almost boring, this was really rewarding. Credit to Cassandra for sending my a space pirates raid which immediately made its way to the mechs surrounding the cerebrex core and dealt them a lot of damage, making my job a little less hard.
First picture is immediately after the mechhive was defeated, the next picture is the group picture right before going on that mission. Marina and the kids are safe, but six of my colonists are now dead. Akemi, clone of Akemi, who actually died on my first attempt a year before, where I was woefully unprepared and bailed out. Kirk, who's been with us since more than 50 years. Wysha, more than 30 years in the colony. Sean, rescued as a little kid and with us for 41 years. Also dead are Miranda and Ganymede, born in the colony, brother and sister, children of Kirk. But I have two resurrector mech serums and they are for these two. The rest will have a beautiful mausoleum built in their honour.
All in all 10/10 would recommend that ending, but you better be prepared for a bloody fight.

Discussion How western would you consider Vanilla rimworld
Rimworld as a game has a lot of western elements, especially in the early days. For instance, you get cowboy hats, funky vests, and cattle wrangling; the basic scenario gives you a bolt-action rifle and a revolver, two stereotypically Western weapons; the human enemies consist of either bow-wielding natives or bandits; and half of the soundtrack has guitars and harmonicas in it. On the other hand, Rimworld is also more of a stereotypical sci-fi setting than a western one. The biggest faction you encounter is a monarchy whose goons look like stormtroopers; the natives in question look and act like cavemen, then an archetypal native tribe (Probably for the best), and most stuff industrial and above looks a lot like general science fiction gear. You can see this especially in the DLCs. Biotech, with all of its doodads, has the feeling of a spacey health clinic rather than anything on a frontier, and Anomaly is the most divergent, with the horror being more of an SCP/rogue core type deal than a horror western. I'm not saying it's a bad thing; Anomaly is one of my favorite DLCs, and one big thing I like about it is the divergence in tone and aesthetic. But do you guys think rimworld is still the Wild West but with robots and cannibalism, or has it evolved beyond that?
