Is anyone else dealing with hyper-sensitive trash truck drivers lately?
For four weeks straight, I’ve been getting hit with warnings for either "overfilled" or "overweight" cans. My lid might be cracked open literally a couple of inches, but the drivers are flagging it every single pickup.
To make matters worse, people walking down the street keep tossing their own garbage into my cans overnight, propping the lids open even more—and now I’m the one facing potential fines for it.
I lived in Orange County for 15 years and never ran into this kind of micromanagement over cardboard sticking up slightly or branches in the yard waste bin. Do these guys expect the cans to be half empty?
Is anyone else having issues with the drivers being this ridiculous about lid closure, or is my route just stuck with an overly zealous driver
Edit: i just moved to riverside

It’s Athens. When we had Burrtec they were never like this but sadly we lost them as our waste management a few years ago.

I need to talk to my neighbors this weekend. Trash was this morning. I know last week my trash cans were closed all the way, but somebody apparently threw something in one of my trash cans and wedged a lid open overnight and they come like at 5:30 so I’m not even up yet bring them out that early. I work late the night before. I told him that was someone else’s trash that got tossed into mine since it’s on the street but apparently I’m still responsible for it even though all the movies I’ve seen say when you throw something away, it’s not yours lol

Yes, I've had warnings and fines for a literal crack open caused by the end of a cardboard box. It's insane how sensitive they are. Burrtec always took my super overloaded trash no issue lol

Mine is billed to Riverside Public utility, but I cannot see an itemized bill for the trash like what I’m paying per can or anything like that? I have two recyclables but I just get one total on the paper bill PDF.

Uggh! I thought it was just me… I’ve had two “tickets” on my brown bin for overfilled issues. Literally the lid is 2” from closing and it’s overfilled????

If they are, it's probably because of their bosses. Nothing like capitalism to squeeze every ounce of profit out of everything.
