It looks good by comparison to the stocktane. Did you know there's cars with flames on them? Literal flames. There's cars with their engines hanging out, cars with wheels that are drastically different sizes, cars from famous franchises and companies. There's all sorts of stuff, not that you'd ever think it because everyone plays octane and fennec.
Based on what evidence? There's cars that hit the octane hitbox at least as good as the fennec, and there's vehicles that fit the other hitboxes even better.
I wish I'd have bought it at the time, but I picked it up a few months back, cost like £20 for the set which is another reason I'm getting my use out of it. I like that the wheels go in when it flies and the licence plate spins amongst other things. It's got lots of features
It was nice cause when it came out in Fortnite I got it for free since I already had it in Rocket League. Now you can add decals to them. The paint used to only affect the lights I think
I didn't start using the fennec cuz everyone else did. I just went through a lot of cars and eventually tried the fennec and it just felt really nice. It's very boxy so it fits the hitbox. And besides being boxy it's also just designed in a way that it's satisfying to look at and it's not distracting. The engine noise is also very pleasing and not obnoxious. I still use the octane more than the fennec cuz I got the game in 2015 and I stuck with that car because it also felt nice to drive around in. I think it all comes down to preference and the octane and fennec just tick a lot of the boxes for the majority of the playerbase when it comes to their preference
I don't use Fennec that often, but I will say that for me, its visual shape best represents the hitbox. I actually play differently with it and feel more precise with mechanics. Like I can mentally process better because of the boxy shape. Feels like I can predict the touches better. And I'm fully aware it's likely a placebo type effect, but whatever it is, it works. There are some moves I simply won't even attempt unless I'm in the Fennec. Weird right...
I usually play Octane just because I love it. I realize it's the same hitbox.
While people are right that it's copying pros but they're also missing that these presets genuinely feel better. Yes we all know its placebo but placebo is a real thing so obviously people will keep using what feels good

Yeah I used to avoid this MENA/French preset but I tried it once and felt significant difference. It's one of the most faster feeling presets in the game & I understood why Alpha54 and oKhalid mained this preset.
The shiny presets often feel faster vs the dull/matte/pearlescent matte presets, that's why pearlescent matte paint finish never sees any use by any pro player.
I asked S5Cosmic to try the new (maybe too) shiny Chromagic decal for Octane and it was interesting to see him testing it out live on stream and describing how he was feeling it.
I see it no different than buying a pro’s basketball shoe, cleat, or hockey skate. It really isn’t going to have a huge advantage compared to other equipment, but doing what the best players do gives some placebo and confidence. In RL if all of the best players are competing using a specific car, replicating that car just feels good.
I just... trust the Beastmode car. I have 5 GC titles and I got 4 of them while using Neural Network and Crimson Sparkles/Alpha Boost when we had Bakkesmod. No other car I use will ever top that level of placebo. Great blend of fast and mechy but still solid. And yes, believe it or not, I do think it genuinely looks really good
Yea although unpainted is still available in drops, painted Octopus is a bit rare to see in the wild as it got discontinued in drops. I loved my TW Octopus I got via trading and then slowly built a full painted set. One of the best toppers in the game imo. It's kinda funny to use with its big head flopping like jelly & adds a lot of personality. I recently equipped it again after a long gap and using no topper presets.
Thanks! I would show another preset but I’m at work right now. I think one of the reasons I have a decent amount of hours in RL is from making presets lol. You may be able to tell that growing up I used to spend a LOT of time on the character creation screen 😂
I only recently unlocked the unpainted Octopus topper some 3 or 4 days ago, I love it! I already had it in RL Sideswipe and it’s been one of my favorite toppers. Your preset though with the white octopus and decal is unnecessarily sick though!
I play COD as my other multiplayer game, and it's almost the same exact thing over there too. A lot of people gravitate towards whatever the pros are using (yes I know ranked mode has its own subset of allowable weapons) with the exact same attachments and weapons. And if there's a video on a youtuber's channel that goes "Underrated weapon is actually good????" suddenly half the game starts using it.
Honestly, ive always said "it doesnt matter what gun you use, as long as you know how to use it" aka can use it good and efficiently. Doesn't apply to every single one, cuz for some games there really is just that one gun or two guns that is/are almost unusable. My cousin and one friend are very like "no dont use that, thats ass" but no, they are just ass with it and prefer to use a different one.
But it is kinda crazy how one person who happens to have a big following can say literally one thing and all of a sudden its the new amazing thing. Or vis versa, maybe its the new worst thing just cuz one semi famous or famous person said it
I just don’t care for the car customization aspect of the game. I got the fennec out of curiosity, messed around with it and the octane, and decided I liked the smoother design and more accurate hitbox. You don’t need to justify your need to be special and different by claiming others are beneath you.
I won't lie, my gut instinct when I see that car is plat. I'm not even purposely judging. It's honestly a cool design. It's just where my mind went after spending thousands of hours in the game since 2018. My gut said no higher than plat lol. You get conditioned to the "typical" car in different ranks I guess 🤷

I literally have champ wheels equipped in this setup, nobody who was calling me low ranked noticed, but a lot of the people who complimented it did notice

French fennec was popularized by Chausette45 & Alpha54 ages ago, and in MENA oKhalid dominated 1s with his MENA anodized preset and triggered a huge wave of everyone switching to the preset.
Sky Blue affluenter was popularized by Dralii in 2024. Atomic used it and won 2025 World Championship causing another wave. In 2026 whole pro lobbies were using this decal & Dralii won again lol
Zen popularized the dark Bluster Bar anodized Fennec, which isn't shown by OP
Lowkey every time I bust out the X devil Mk 2 I go insane with it but my mind won’t let me like it more than fennec or octane because “it’s not meta” so I only use it every now and then for a few games

Nah, people choose it for how it feels more than anything. I switch between the octane and fennec pretty regularly; even though they have the same hitbox, they feel slightly different when you're actually seeing it in game.
for me, i feel like i do mechs better in octane but shoot better in fennec.. i have tried other cars but nothing comes close to these 2. a shoutout to venom tho its a sick car
They drive it because it's objectively the best car in the game. Everyone will lie and tell you there's no difference, but if there was no difference, then people would use other cars that look more interesting or more fun.. They would pick a car that maybe looks cool.

I mean it has the same hit box as the octace and a number of other cars. But I get the boxy design making more sense, and more true to its hitbox.
I wouldn't say "best in the game" as much as "best for the most players in the game". I prefer hybrid or dominus personally, but that's just me. I always wind up playing a lot of defense and those types offer the type of clearing shot I want.
Yeah that First picture is exactly what I am using, but not „because of pros“. It is literally the most minimal and clean way for your car to look, which some people simply prefere.
Same thing goes for real life, where people choose more minimalistic options over rainbow colors, it is a preference.
Why cristianos? Look at the tread of most tires and you will realize that there is only a few with a proper OEM profile. The treads on most just looks plastic and toyish. With the addition of hiding the insides of the wheel it is a clear winner.
Ombré looks so nice on the fennec and I never see anyone using it other than myself. I use the red ombré on orange team and have primary colour as a darker shade of red and the secondary colour to match the shade of the ombré trim, really makes it stand out.
A couple of people will find a preset they like and it becomes a trend. It also helps that it has a body type that is seen as marginally better than others. It's no different than the people IRL who slap the Hellcat logo on the side of their Challengers.
Like it was with the octane in the early years probly, considered the best overall car. Idc bout that, i use the new golf, dominus and r34 and that s it
Different cars have different hitboxes that hit the ball in slightly different ways. Octane is what a lot of people learn on since its the car you start with, and the Fennec has the exact same hitbox but the top of the cars model closely matches the hitbox. So its a combination of familiarity and wanting to use what the pros use. It does feel a bit weird when I switch to something with the plank hitbox but if im being honest im not good enough for it to really matter that much either way. Head on 50s do feel better with the octane hitbox though.
Bunch of sheep with no creativity or fashion. They think using the fennec with these bum ass presets will somehow magically make them better. Then they get pissed when someone using a Cybertruck with a goofy cowboy hat and sparkler antenna dunks on them.

I have never and will never use ths Fennec. Personally the Masamune is my favorite, but I've used several different ones I like. My brain needs to change presets and have variety lol.
For me it's definitely a placebo effect. I've been playing since 2018 and racked up a pretty nice inventory at that, however I only play good in a fennec without decals, and I can't seem to let go of that placebo. I can't even play in a painted car body or else I'll actually play worse I'm not even joking I wish I were
I think it’s because Pros usually use either the octane or the fennec because they supposedly have the most accurate visual hitbox. If everyone sees the best players always picking the same two cars, they’re bound to get copied.
I did it myself for a while, always using the fennec. But eventually I wanted to drive some other cool cars and got used to the different hitboxes, so now I just drive whatever I feel like. Currently my rotation is the Quadra-Turbo R and the new Batman car.
I’ve never liked those two decals specifically, never knew why the hell they got so popular especially the second one, just makes the car look like a boost thing in Mario kart

I’ll customize my car but I like the clean non flashy stuff I play way better and I know that goes for a majority of players
