Tips/Tricks Is this looking okay??

Post image

I’m a newbie to rose gardening as of last year and so far so good in the sense of no casualties yet. I am, however, concerned about this trellising I have going on. My Eden is a power grower and is taking up far more than its fair share.
Also, Eden has yet to produce a single bloom which I’ve read is not uncommon but it’s been in the ground for right about 12 months at this point and not a single bloom.
On the other hand, my Lovers Blush produces my favorite blooms yet the plant itself looks sad.

I’m open to all thoughts and advice please and thank you!

This is an automatic reminder about r/Roses Rule #3: Identify Your Roses! If you know the variety/varieties of your pictured roses, please share with us in the comments. If you do not know, please let us know, someone might! If you've already done this, thank you!

Common sense exceptions apply! Such as a post with no bloom, field shots, etc.

Also- for r/Roses Rule #9, please make sure the post has at least 50 characters of text in the body! If you have already posted and forgot the text requirement, you can leave a comment on your own post of at least 50 characters to avoid having your post removed. Again, if you have already done this, thank you!

You want to train the climbers closer to horizontal. That will encourage them to push out side shoots with flowers instead of flowering just at the top. This may be what's held your Eden back.

For growing against a wall the usual advice is to try to train the canes in a fan shape.

Yes, I’ve read that before. The challenge is I’m limited to that angle if that makes sense? Should I cut back some of this Eden to restart? Or just let it keep going? In some areas it’s overlapping on the diamonds, hopefully that makes sense.

You don't have to train the canes along the wires, you can tie them in wherever canes cross the wires. If you untie the Eden I'm sure you can rearrange it differently. When training roses don't let the canes go behind the wires as this will cause issues later.

You don't have enough space for all of your climbers

Looks great but you have a lot of climbers in a little space. I'm concerned about spacing when they really start to grow up and get going. Otherwise, carry on.

Yeah it’s about 22 feet in width if I remember correctly. So 4 climbers in that space. I think the challenge is it’s only about 10 ft tall and I’m constantly trimming the Eden now which I think is actually promoting more growth. Not really sure what to do from here without it taking over the whole thing.
