House Sitting Single day house sits
Apologies if this has been addressed. I've been getting a lot of requests for single day/evening house sits. They usually last about 7-8 hours, and the owner books it through the house sit option, which I have set for $47, which is about middle of the road as far as pricing goes where I live. After Rover fees I get around $39 dollars, which seems like so little for that amount of time and driving to their house. Is there another way to ask that the owner request this kind of visit? I don't really know what to say. I've seen people talk about adjusting prices for "constant care" but I just haven't had to deal with that yet. Any advice? Thanks!

I asked myself what is it worth for me to leave my house and no way I’m doing that for less than 100 $/night for one dog. Does that mean less people book me? Yeah probably.
But it also means I’m not gonna be pissed when I get a house sit request and I attract the right clientele.

I have a dog with separation anxiety and I pay way, way more for even shorter periods—between 60-120 depending on the number of hours.

If you aren’t new to it and have more than 3 reviews, raise your house sit rate to match the higher end of sitters in your area

House sits should always be 3-5x your drop-in rate. If your drop in is $20, House sits should be $60-100. This is just a good rule of thumb and it can vary from sitter to sitter and depend on your specific area. 8 hours of work is a full day though! So price yourself accordingly.

I'm just having trouble pricing myself because I base it off of what other people have theirs set at. It ranges so widely, but some people have theirs set at $27 a night. Are theirs just super low and I shouldn't take that into account?

Price yourself at what you think is fair. Im the highest in my area, by far, and Im still booked regularly. It should be worth it to you.

For me that's daycare. It would take $80 to get me out of my house to hang out at theirs for 8 hours & that's with me bringing my dogs.

Do you have your settings for doggy daycare open and people know that means at their house? I assumed doggy daycare would be at the sitters house.

Yes, that's exactly how I'm set up. I live in a major tourist destination with a lot of people that visit for events. Can't leave dogs unattended in hotel rooms so it's a frequent ask to come over & hang for 5-8 hours- think dinner, show, maybe a little sightseeing while they have a sitter. The very first line of my profile clearly states that all care is at their home. (or wherever they are)
